Hi Guys,

I played BG when I was 7 and played on & off since - but it wasn't until about a year ago that I started to play quite a bit with the Mrs...

Now we are both looking to improve our game, can anyone point me in the direction of some decent reading that will improve both our games, I have Jellyfish & do ok against it - but I know I have some major leaks & would like to improve so any advice would be cool..

thanks guys

Taz

Hi Taz,

it all depends on how good you are. I mean doing OK against Jellyfish doesn't say a lot, because you don't mention on which level you set it.
Are you familiar with doubling?
Do you know about blitz-games or back games?
Do you know about timing in prime vs. prime play?

If you have a lot of experience but some of the above things are unknown to you then i would suggest the book "501 essential backgammon problems" by Robertie.
Are you familiar with these terms then maybe your ready for the Lamford book "improve your backgammon" Advanced backgammon"from Robertie is also very thorough.

greetings k.

You'll find a variety of books and other backgammon resources at www.thegammonpress.com. Check there first.

Thanks for the info gents.

its appreciated, I think the 501 book will be best then.

I know in the other forums there are groups who like to discuss play etc, does anything like that go on in here?

if not if anyone would be willing to have a chat on MSN, it would be appreciated as I would like to try to work out how much I REALLY know...

cheers

Pls PM me for MSN if its an option.

Anyone who posts a checker or cube play question will usually get a timely response and discussion. Scroll back through recent posts and you'll see plenty of examples.
