This then is the message: God is light, and in him is no darkness at all; the true Light, which lights every man that comes into the world.

Behold, the kingdom of God is within you. You are the light of the world.

That which may be known of God is apparent/known/evident/recognized in you; for God has showed it unto you.

Men search in darkness for an external god. They listen to those who say Lo, he is here! or, lo there! The light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehends it not.

Every man is a lamp, lit by the Light; and that Light is the life of men. Over time, men cover that Light and abide in darkness. And from that resultant darkness, men try to comprehend the Light, to comprehend God.

But no, man's darkness cannot comprehend the Light. Darkness has no communion, no fellowship with the Light.

Awake thou that sleepest, the Light is not out there somewhere, it is within as it has always been.

Regarding the darkness. Over time, men cover the Light within. They cover the Light with external constructions of persona and ego, flesh and lies, religion and logical systems of beliefs; various programmings, diverse clutter and multiple masks.

Men say, I am the persona. I am this patchwork character that I and happenstance and circumstance have made to play the game of life. And entire lives are spent patching up the persona so that it is personable to the other personas in the game of life. And all the time, this play acting persona covers the Light within.

You are, at your core, a being. You are not the persona mask that covers the being; you are not the flesh that covers the spirit.

Man is a lamp of Light. He covers that Light with a bushel basket of persona. And then lives in the resulting darkness. You cannot comprehend the Light, God, the One Creator Source of All from the space of this darkness.

Examine that bushel basket, lift it, let the day dawn, and the day star of Light will arise in your hearts and you will know that you are indeed children of the Light; for you are the light of the world.

Ever think that God would institute a religion to help people find Him? Or if you don't believe that, that He reveals Himself to those who seek Him, often through religion?

Or that God, who follows reason, can be better discovered through philosophy?

No. But i wouldn't really want to be because i like having a little bit of ego.
