Why isn't it time to bring down the Catholic Church? Why isn't it time to bring down the Catholic Church?

Where are the rampaging lynch mobs?
Where are the picket lines outside churches every Sunday?

If this where any other sort of organisation....

What did the Catholic Church do to you, personally? A better thread title would be "Why it is time to bring down the Catholic Church!". The burden of proof is on you to make the case for why it must be "brought down".

Because Catholics would feel too guilty afterward.

I have nothing to do with the Catholic Church, it leaves me alone. The government on the other hand... sorry, wrong forum.

I'm not actually arguing that it should be bought down*. I'm at a loss to why there is so much tolerance and so little anger.

If, say, a multinational company, or a charity, had systematically abused tens of thousands of children and then covered it up at the very highest level, it would cease to exist. Very quickly.

The evidence is out in the open. My question relates to societal-wide tolerance of religious institutions, even in the face of the most abhorrent crimes

*[Just for the record, I would like to see it bought down...]

Did they systematically have a multi-national cover-up? This is hardly comparable.

Apparently they are not doing anything to prevent such abuse in public schools because it keeps on happening....and happening....and happening....and happening.

Look the reason people are not rioting to bring down the catholic church is simple. Most people do not care enough to take a day off from their lives and go out torching churches or lynching clergymen as you are suggesting they do.

Actaully, as a society, we should be looking at putting you in jail.

the days of the catholic are numbered already in the western world , there has been a massive decline in numbers attending mass , and they have almost no say in how countries are run now (im thinking Ireland Italy and im sure there are lots more , im just too lazy or ignorant to check) and as the days go by the revelations on how corrupt they really are become more and more.

the pope is a one time nazi , he knew about numerous cases of child sex abuse , his very own brother was in charge of a boys home where over 60 people now claim to have been sexually abused by priests while in their care .

i agree op , when and where is the first protest , put my name down i'll be there.

Go make a cardboard sign and go to your nearest catholic church to start protesting yourself. Post pictures of it here cause I doubt you got the sack to do it.

Your comprehension is somewhat lacking, so it's going to be difficult to argue with you in any depth:

1) I'm not calling for lynchmobs. I'm asking why others arent more angry. Last time I checked, there was nothing illegal (or immoral) about asking questions.

2) There are plenty of examples of lynch mobs/rioting in relation to paedophilia*

*interesting to note the media coverage almost completely fails to use the word paedophile, replacing it with "abuse".

Translation:

I want to see people hung and church's burned by angry mobs....but I don't want to soil myself by actually doing it or being involved in it.

No, not at all. Please just address the question at face value, rather than derailing the thread.

You started this thread to troll and no you're crying because I am treating it as troll spawn?

If you want to have a serious discussion, ask the mods to lock this thread. You can post any rational comments or veiws in the thread Andy Fox started.

Another thread you appear to be derailing? Have a go at addressing the original question please. Please, I really don't want a flameware. Life is too short for this crap.
