If he is the one who decides who to give faith to then he is the one deciding who goes to hell or heaven... This is pretty terrible... He creates humans so that he could play his random lottery on who is going to burn in fires forever or not?

What if there are other intelligent beings living on other planets.. What if there are thousands of planets inhabited by intelligent beings.. That does not sound like we are the center of his universe....does it...

I've come to terms with the fact that faith is a gift, its clear some people just CANT force themselves to belive in God, as I couldnt force myself not to. That God burns everyone in hell that doesnt have faith, is not something I have come fully to terms with or know to be a certainty. I know it as a possibility is mind blowing to me, and painful. I can't confirm it or deny it though. Theres scriptural proof thats whats going to happen, but theres scriptural proof that isnt the nature of God, if he chose to do it that way, it would be his right, if he doesnt, i wont be suprised.

Wrong word I guess? Im not talking in a physical sense. We arent the center of his universe, but He being the very being that contains all the universe within himself, we are each individually the object of his ENTIRE affections, not lacking any bit of it. We are the center of his love, all of it is poured out on us. Him who is the source of all things, who contains all things, has made us the object of his affection.

And you are perfectly fine with worshiping a being who creates beings and then does not give them a chance to have a eternal peace but rather has a plan for them to spend eternity in pain. And those people had no choice but to accept it because GOD did not feel like giving them a chance? I find it highly unlikely that an all knowing being who supposedly designed humans , and obviously gave us brains(logic, reasoning, etc) gave us one way of being saved and that is accepting blind faith, rather then using the skills he gave us...

What if we find more intelligent life somewhere in this universe, it would be pretty weird that GOD loves us the most yet creates more intelligent beings then us somewhere else in space.. I would have to argue then that GOD loved those more intelligent beings more then us , since he "designed" them in a better way...

I believe now because I NEED God more than I did then.

A very scary thing happens to me once in a very long while. I will feel God dissapear. I can't find Him, can't be comforted by the thought of Him. I will open the Bible and desperatley look for words that actually have truth behind them, and I can't find the truth. I have all the God Knowledge I've always had, know all the facts I've always known, but the "thing" that makes them real facts just vanishes. Then they are just things I know about God, but they arent things that are real or comforting and I feel myself desperatley swirling around looking for air, looking for water, looking for food, but unable to find any. Unable to be comforted. In those moments I actually think "I could not live like this". It is a true Job moment.

When this happens, which is again, once a year if that, the catalyst that brings God back, that brings the comfort back, is some sort of "truth" I am reminded of. One that while I knew it before, becomes a landmark or a monument in my mind that I can always go back to.

It is when I am having those "moments" that I understand fully why no one can believe in God without a faith that was given to them by God. It is in those moments where my knowledge exists, and my faith dissapears, when God exists as a Theology or a Doctrine in my head, yet not as a relationship that I would trade everything I think I know about God, and everything I have, for the smallest drop of faith that would make everything come back into proper perspective. I can't live without that perspective, nothing is real without it. I can't function without faith. That is why I believe in Him now.

I respect and am blown away by the strength that people have who don't belive in God. You people are 100000 x more brave and intelligent and strong than I am. Yet I want nothing to do with that strength and intelligence and bravery if it puts me in a place where I am seperate from the source of my life. I would rather be a worm, the hated scum of the earth with a drop of faith than the king of it with none.

Jesus Christ stepped out of eternity into human skin not to tell us all about how God is the center of the universe. Its true, but He could have done that with lightning bolts and thunder from heaven. He came into the world surrounded by animal **** and lived in it as a stranger to Royal comforts to tell you and to tell me that WE are the prized pursued object of the almighty Gods affection. That YOU are the center of His universe. I just can't get over that. You and Me.
That is really beautiful Acemanhattan - really beautiful. You really know God, the real essence of God, as does Joey. I feel humbled yet also wonderfully encouraged by both of your experiences and by the faith you both hold.

What do you base that belief on? Do you think that it's good to hold unjustified beliefs?

Will respond to the rest when sober but this seems like the nut low aspect to take issue with. You really think the christian god couldnt adjust its accent/language depending on the recipient?

What were you (belief-wise)before you decided to start believing in God? Why did you choose the god of Christianity? Can you explain how switching on this belief improved your day-to-day life?

Thanks. I understand your Christianity, given the nature of your vision. I'm curious about your specific beliefs, such as Adam and Eve, and Noah. Not all Christians share the same beliefs on these subjects. Did yours all come to you as part of the vision? Or did your vision instill the belief in God and Jesus, and later action led to your specific interpretations of the Bible? And if so, could you describe how they came about?

I have faith that I believe that Ace and Joey know God. I also know God. I love God. Have you ever been in love? There is no proof or justification for it, it just is.

You did not answer my question..

Do you think that it's good to hold unjustified beliefs?

How do you know GOD?

Have I been in love? yes.. I am in love with many things and love many people, but I can either see them, hear them, appreciate their company due to their great personality, enjoy their beauty, have intimate relationship, etc.. on the other hand there is GOD.. I never saw him, never heard his voice, never felt him, etc.. Can't love something I have no idea what it is and if it exists...

You are in love with the idea of being in love.

God is not there to love you back.

The idea of God is a useful framework for me to understand and interpret my spiritual experiences, even though I feel pretty confident I'm incapable of understanding anything about him. Belief wasn't a choice, it was something I discovered about myself.

Joey - how do you distinguish between your experience and the guys we lock up in the looney bin for having similar experiences about normal people or the boogy man or demons?

I just didn't believe in God, or didn't care about God. Wasn't exposed to religion in any way growing up.

I chose the God of Christianity because He was the one presented to me. The Gospel was what drew me in. Not me trying to make a way to God, but God coming down to me.

In my day to day life (i am going to speak of present day, because out of the 11 years I've been with a Christian the first year and the last 2 years have been the only ones i lived a life that reflected that I know Jesus) I experience a great great great deal less dysfunction than the people I know who don't know the Lord. I believe on a whole I make far better decisions, have far better relationships, do far less destructive things than when I didn't walk with the Lord and also in comparison to those that I know that don't know the Lord. The result is a lot of peace, a lot of joy (not constant elation) but far far far more than I had previously. I also have a perspective on life now that brings me peace, i don't sweat things as much anymore. I actually love people and care about people --at times-- more than myself, in a way that I never did before.

If you become a Buddhist you will also experience peace.. so? All your experiences and changes can be achieved if you believe in Jesus or not... This does not prove anything... I personally feel more peace after leaving Catholic church...
