Someone asked this question in another thread, and I've been thinking about it ever since. What has religion ever proved or shown to be true? Can anyone name one thing that religion accurately explains about our world?

I find the question confusing since I dont think religion is about proving statements or for learning about how the world works - I think that's for maths and science.

I think religion is an attempt at making sense of something fundamentally incomprehensible to us.

Religion doesn't try to prove anything. Where do people get this idea? It functions as a guide to living a way of life - a life philosophy, if you will. If you don't subscribe to any religion, then you live your life the way you like to, so long as it doesn't break any of the laws of the land, of course.

No, people try to prove those things, not religion. My point was that proof isn't religion's purpose. I don't know how else I could have said that to make it clear.
