Elaborate. Are you saying that because our conscience can be altered, this is evidence that an objectively "superior" consciousness exists, and that this is evidence that, in turn, there is some sort of higher power?

It just indicates that we are capable of more than one type of consciousness.

So only people who claim to have experienced it can be examined. There are millions of cases of NDEs world wide but the topic doesn't seem to have gotten a lot of public exposure. Melvin Morse is a pediatrician who thinks NDEs indicate heaven. He's examined a lot of child cases of NDE.

You can look him up if you want to see his latest. Its been several months since I looked at his site.

What do you define as a "type" of consciousness?

It's likely that you get out of psychedelics what you are willing to put into them. Casually smoking joints and believing that you are enlightened, not buying it. It may give you a different perspective, but unless you work to keep the roads in good condition, that may end up being more limiting than liberating.

I used to smoke a lot of weed, and sometimes I felt as if I stumbled upon some novel ideas. But I was always too zombie like to exert the effort in transforming them into readable/understandable ideas. Now, I just take a **** load of coffee and fish oil, and I don't find myself as demotivated.

And now the novel ideas are probably gone too huh?

I don't smoke a lot. If anything I have a one hitter that I puff now and again and it helps me to reinforce those novel ideas. I think the introspective mental state I encounter helps me to hear my spirit and what my true desires are. And during that time where I am in that state of mind I actually believe that I can accomplish what it is that comes to me. I also believe though that weed was put here for a reason other then what the mainstream society uses it for.

God created it, plain and simple. It’s a plant and in its natural state it has the effects that it does. This is no coincidence but like anything (as madnak stated) you get out of it what you want. I use it to hear the voice of God. And when I get a desire in my heart I follow it. Weed allows an ego-less look into ones soul and it’s here that you find yourself. No, you don’t need to smoke to accomplish this but if you’re responsible then it can benefit you.

Those “novel” ideas that are mentioned, well, it’s a shame that they were never pursued. If you thought they were novel don’t you think they’re worth the shot? I live my life trying to accomplish the novel ideas that come to me when I smoke. If the idea was possible for you at the time why then can’t it become a reality? Well there’s only one reason for that and it’s you. Whether high or sober, thoughts only become reality once actions are put forth. So you can’t say that it was the weed which halted your pursuing your ideas it was your lack of desire to make them a reality.

If you hear the voice of God talking to you, you know this one:

It's speaking for a reason. And if you recognize the power of belief you can turn those novel ideas into a life that has meaning and purpose. You know..you can fix roads with it.

A fun thing about drugs about drugs is that their users tend to believe the state caused by the drug is somehow more special than a "normal" state. This is often regardless of the drug - could even be caffeine as it could be heroin.

It's a common human fallacy to confuse "rare" with "remarkable".

You would think after the 60's would have enough experimental data to answer that question.

anything overused is bad. if we ate as much food as a stoner would smoke weed, we'd be super obese. if we used as much alcohol as weed, we'd be dead. if we used as much crack, as weed we'd be dead.

weed is harmful in the sense that it is harmless.

I recently found Aphrodite through a combination of somas and wine ( 3 somas for every jug of wine). She was astonishingly beautiful and answered 2 prayers then disappeared for good. I’ve just come across some White Widow weed, and am hoping to regain this very spiritual experience. So if you’re not too picky about which God shows up, I’d say the answer to your question is yes.
