Amazing the millions of ignorant, gullible foold who believe in these childish fairy tales of superpowers like Jesus Christ, just absolutely laughable that in 2010 that people can still actually believe that these superhumans existed thousands of years ago.

Also, its always the same garbage. "My fake god is real but your fake god is bullsht" its hilarious

Another poster said, and said it like it was wrong, that people use science to "try" and disprove religion. Ummmm yaaa duhhhhh when 21st century scientists tell me its impossible for your fake jesus christ to do the things your little book says he does I'm gonna take the 21st century scientists word over a bunch of cattle grazing goatherders that wrote a book thosands of years ago.

You jesus christ believers are just so hilarious.

You'd laugh in my face if I said I believed in santa claus or the easter bunny, yet ypou don't understand why people laugh at you when you say you believe in Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ
Santa Claus
The Easter Bunny

Not a difference beteween the three. All just made up

I believe Craig answered this: Santa Claus, Tooth Fairies, and God

Funny how almost all the posters who pop in to say this follow up with a quick refresher in the usual set of mass market atheist fallacies related in a familiar style.

FYI, despite its faults, this forum's arguments have advanced from what seemed like such clever propaganda 10 or 15 years ago. Adapt or perish.

Richard Dawkins said something akin to this: A scientist or mathematician will always respect a colleague for disproving his theories, even if he devoted his life to them. No one associated with religion would ever stand for such insolence.
Huh? I see people change their minds due to logical argument on religious topics all the time. Do yourself a favor and drop this Kool-Aid guru Dawkins.

Atheism: “God does not exist”
Why is it that theists always insist that the definition of athiesm is the belief in a negative and that most athiests will claim that it is simply the lack of belief in a positive (i.e. the definition of non-theism on that page).

I am pretty sure that most self-proclaimed atheists ascribe to the viewpoint defined as non-theism on that page. It's sad that Craig chooses to refuse them this liberty and automatically assume that any self-proclaimed atheist is asserting a belief in a negative when in fact they are not.

It is probably good that we try to clean up the lingo to get more exact words for these subtle, yet extremely important differences, but it's pretty ridiculous to just assume that everyone else is already using your new definitions.

Thank you, kind sir, for proving my point. You failed to use any examples or give any credibility to your positions, which in turn validates my points, since you did nothing but attack me. Well done.

Have a nice day.

Even if someone distinctly clarifies that they lack belief in a positive, some people will claim that they actually have belief in the negative and are just trying to shift the burden of proof.

Grunch

This part you got mostly right. Christianity has the most influence on my life.

It was only a question of time until some genius would come up with such a thread.

Since I have a pile of Buddhist texts in my house, I was pretty sure that I understood the fact that among the many complicated beliefs, a large majority of them believe 2 things.

#1: We are all Gods, we just haven't ascended to that enlightened plane of existence.

#2: Buddha is worshiped and revered as a God. I have 2 Buddhist friends (neither are active but their families are) and they told me as much. Buddha is their God.

If a Buddhist happens to be here and would like to chime in, I would love to know where I went wrong...

There are different flavors of Buddhism.

Indeed, there are. Which is why I initially said you weren't entirely correct. You made a broad statement which may apply to some, but certainly not all of that group.

My contention would be that it doesn't apply to the biggest sect of that religion.

Why don't you email Craig then post the response on here. It'd be an interesting exchange.

I don't get it. Start a thread saying what you believe and why. This is not hard.

Why? I thought it was you who was interested in what people believe and why, no?

Does this really require an argument?

An objective observer might think - gasp - you're here for verbal jousting and not R, G, or T.
