Because I'm not an unreasonable man, and whatever reservations I may have about you personally on this sub-forum they don't preclude me from having a civil discussion with you. That is, of course, only if you're willing to play the same game.

Atheism is a religion because atheists debate in threads that have been specifically set up for purposes other than debate.

This is a poker forum. There are people on here and passing through this forum who are not atheists and sometimes we like to exchange posts with each other on non-atheist topics. Not every post in RGT cares about atheism or is aimed at it or is concerned about it in even an oblique way.

So yes atheists are every bit as zealous as theists.

If everything was about atheism or this was an exclusively atheist forum they should have put the word atheism in the title when they named this place and laid it out in the rules section but since they didn't I will treat this place as a place to discuss religion, gods and theology with poker players.

My argument was from psychology and based on observation of behavior.

Psychology draws conclusions from both the irrational and the rational....Maybe it goes some places where logic can't go...

Maybe there are two types of religion anyways: the carnal-spiritual and the carnal. The carnal always exhibits dogmatism/zealotry with or without beliefs. I know I'm sad to say not a true spiritual yet...working on it..just a mere "carnal-spiritual"...I know from comparing myself to people that are more spiritual than me...they always exhibit better humility or patience...I've got a lot of "knowledge" but those supernatural virtues I'm still working on....

However, I must say that in debates (of any type), the ones with the weakest arguements or least valid points are often the ones who fail to actually counter the positions of the other side and merely resort to insulting and attacking their opponents.

Example, see quote #11 from Melchy (which is easily the best laid out counter ITT; no disrespect to the other well said points) and the fact that the OP never once countered any of that.
