I'm just sick of the only argument you can give ITT "some atheists believe in ridiculous stuff" while there isn't a single atheist on this forum who believes in any of that

im sick of this nitpicking because nitpicking is all you christians can do to form an argument

Last time I checked both me and Luckyme were neither Christians, nor religious and we were indeed atheists.

I still know atheists who believe in a lot of new age hooey.

They don't believe in god(s), that is all that is required to be an atheist.

They don't believe in God because there's no evidence, that's why they are hypocrites, because there is also no evidence for the stuff they believe in

Atheism imbliefs no belief in god(s)...it doesn't pertain to reasons for not believing in stuff, it doesn't pertain to political views, it doesn't pertain to academic opinions, it doesn't pertain to how much evidence on requires for belief X and it doesn't pertain to favorite philosophy.

I guess that is down to the quality of the proof and the severity of my bias. Theists on this board has proved God's existence many times, I have found the proof to be rather lacking.

Imo the evidence and the quality of the evidence should be the only deciding factor of being an atheist, if the evidence is solid and tends to point at Theism, then I will accept that and stop being an atheist.

Look i know you have a different view on atheism and i accept that im not trying to flame or anything i just want to figure out what value you give atheism

You started out saying no atheust believes these things, period. Then you moved to saying no atheists on this board believe it. Atheism is the lack of belief in God. Not the lack of belief in anything posted in the OP. Are atheists perhaps more likely to reject them because the evidence in favor is lacking? Maybe, but that's not what you've been saying.

What you or I think an atheist should be like is not what is being discussed.

You might think dark blue is best, that doesn't mean light blue isn't blue.

i'm sticking with my original post, a true atheist never has an unsupported belief

What is a true non-believer in God and where can I find him? Is he sitting in the front row of the non-believing Church every Sunday?

Sorry, but you have to realise how silly the idea of being a "true" non-believer is. Ironically it sounds a lot like something a religious person would say about being a "true" believer.

Btw, what is your belief that

"a true atheist never has an unsupported belief"

supported with?

This is such a ridiculous mischaracterization of what it means to be an atheist, or as you say, a "true atheist." Good to see we have an atheist around here to entertain the theists as much as Gunth and Splendour entertain the atheists though!

Another one. All these atheists are disagreeing with you - doesn't that give you pause for thought?

Even if you are using 'true atheist' to mean 'doesnt believe in God because there is insufficient evidence' you're still wrong - some people are irrational. In countries where atheism is the norm (even if held due to lack of evidence) there are nonetheless atheists who won't walk under ladders. Your error is in making a universal claim about such a broad category.

Even restricting it to just yourself you're probably wrong - I've never met anyone perfectly rational, with no unjustified bias, who hasn't made a single error in weighing available evidence. Not only do you claim that this applies to you, but that in fact you wil N E V E R make such an error.

2 questions:

list in order, which do you think is mathematically/scientifically most likely to exist?

list in order, which of the following is most likely to exist based on reports, credibility of the reports, historical significance of the reports, and mathematical/scientific evidence suggesting it's possibility?

1. Horoscopes/astrology
2. Palm reading/Tarot card reading
3. Other forms of divination of the future -- I Ching, etc.
4. Voodoo/curses
5. Amulets/crystals with the power to protect or heal
6. Ghosts
7. Vampires
8. Werewolves
9. Zombies
10. Loch Ness Monster
11. Big Foot
12. Yeti
13. Chupa Cabra
14. UFO sightings
15. Alien abductions of humans

I agree, I was way out of line with the true atheist thing...

What I was trying to say is that I find it extremely weird for an atheist to believe in anything supernatural without any evidence, and then turn to a Theist and say: "God? Where's the evidence?"

I apoligize for the ****storm my earlier post caused and I hope this post is more in line

Fair enough. This is a much more reasonable claim.
