So I've looked around on here a bit and haven't found this as a thread yet. What do you think about a soul? Does it exist? Is there scientific evidence? Is it necessary to have scientific evidence?

If by soul you mean something other than stuff going on in your brain then there is no scientific evidence. Scientific evidence is clearly unnecessary for religion.

Man was originally created with Body, Soul and Spirit, man then because of Adam lost Spirit and now when man is born he only has Soul and Body.

Neither of these enable them to live forever, only the missing part will enable etrernal life which is Spirit.

You can only recieve Spirit when you believe and do what is written in Romans 10:9,10

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.


Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

I think it was initially proposed as an explanation of what exactly consciousness is. Even today, thousands of years after it was first posited, we still know relatively little about exactly why we are conscious. Essentially, it is a being which is connected to, yet somehow separate from, our physical bodies. People have always liked to make up explanations for whatever they do not understand, and whatever seems like the most plausable at the time generally gets accepted and passed on as truth, as future generations inevitably ponder the same philosophical questions their parents did. When asked, the parents respond with whatever they decided to believe.
