This headline struck me as interesting. Mostly because it was the kind of headline that would be evidence to the Splendour-types of the world that there was something out there. Its the perfect kind of story that can be used as evidence to confirm a religious bias, while to most everyone else, its completely meaningless.

I started to wonder if other such headlines regularly appear and are noted by those types. It would be interested to collect headlines or stories that people find that can be interpreted (or are overtly written) which can confirm a bias yet are completely natural phenomena. (The Virgin Mary on piece of bread would qualify.)

I am gonna go get salmonella poisoning just so the Christians can't claim this as evidence.

"hmmm 121 people sick. Such a shame."

"Wow, its up to 250 sick people. cluck cluck."

another 2 days
"468 people sick. They really need to prevent this sort of thing from happening."

"666 people sick.... Mother, Mary of God!! It must be the devil."

Of course if she waited another day it might have been 700 people and it wouldn't be a sign.

And yet they fail to understand the message. The Virgin Mary didn't make a special effort to manifest herself on that garage door to say something trivial like "calm down, it'll be all right, love your neighbor and be happy." Her message is that it's time to kill all the infidels, and these stupid fat people want to turn it into some kind of a feel good hugfest.

I'm trying to think happy thoughts today. Getting mad about things I can't control is bad for my health.

Awesome. I think a quick search of Splendor posts could merit a thread of similar finds. It really shows you can create meaning in any connections if you want it to be there.

I love that Mempho thinks there's some conspiracy to hide the information about Zues's temple.

The_Outlaw was barely literate and used all sorts of strange formatting in his posts. Pletho's posts are long and meandering, but they're not nearly as poorly written as The_Outlaw's posts were.

As for Splendour and Mempho...Splendour has a history of creating fake accounts so that she can make it appear that someone is agreeing with her.

Yeah, I guess that I did not remember his specific posts that well. Just remembered that he got mad all of the time. But you are right, Pletho is much more structured.

if i followed this advice I wouldn't get all the humorous chatbox remarks on the rare occasions I actually live up to my name. Just think of the implied Christian tilt when they have an overpair.

Without researching it any further I am nearly convinced Splendour and Mempho are one and the same (conspiracy theories are so much fun until you look at the facts IMO).

If you can actually find the time to read some of Pletho's posts you will begin to see how poorly written they really are. You would have thought God would make grammar one of his messenger's strong points.

If that is true, then my words are definitely from satan.
