Isn't recognizing your "soldier's stance" 'half the battle'?

I know one thing for sure, this forum means at least twice as much to Splendour than the next most obsessed person..

It's her little fantasy world where she can say almost anything and the worst consequence is people insult her over the internet. Not so much the case with real life.

So that being said, I say shut this **** down.

If I am just being a level 1 thinker and not realising you know this, but you see the deeper beauty of the poetry and philosophy of the bible, ( or whatever text you think god wrote) then i am sorry. PLEASE tell me if this is the case, and i will try to be more sophisticated.
If you weren't being so disingenuous I may have actually given you a reasonable response. Also, who said anything about using the Bible to prove God's existence?

As an atheist myself, I must say you present some of the worst arguments I've ever read.

To be in contention for the stupidest OP I've ever seen in this forum is a stunning achievement

To answer the question: yes. Whether or not go exists, it is clear that many religious people and many nonreligious people exist. They need to share society and will come in contact with each other and will undoubtably sometimes desire to talk about their respective beliefs. This forum is a great way to do that.

I agree with OP in the sense that I think religion is a profoundly irrational position (although it is certainly normal) but that in no way precludes the possibility of an interesting, challenging discussion with a theist.

I have no real idea what you mean, as you didn't say. It is your choice. I guess you look clever when you leave it enigmatic.
OR
YOU SAY IT BEST WHEN YOU SAY NOTHING AT ALL

I am being completely serious. It literally blows my mind that people believe in god. Much in the same way it would freak you out if you met an adult that believed in santa.

Sorry if i come across as disingenuous, or just as a dick, but i have decided to take a stand on this I am not going to pretend that adults believing in a fantasy for no reason is ok. That goes for all religions.

Liberalism is a wonderful achievement of mankind, ( my avatar is JS Mill, a personal hero ) but i am not going to say that religion is ok. I think everyone should think what they what, and i will always defend that, but i won't stop myself laughing the religious.

I'm only laughing on the outside
My smile is just skin deep
If you could see inside I'm really crying
You might join me for a weep.

I would say that if you go throughout human history, you'd find that belief in superstitions of various kinds is far more common than belief in one great power ruling everything.

So no, I don't accept that belief in God is "natural". Without modern life and without indoctrination as children and later by societal pressures, we're unlikely to come to a monotheistic view IMO.

I agree with you. But is it also not tyrannic to warp the mind of entire generations of children with ancient myths and superstitions? Most never know freedom from the Islam, Christianity, Judaism or Hinduism they're subtly indoctrinated into as children. I know it's accepted practice, but if you really think about, it's pretty shocking from a perspective of personal freedom, choice, and human rights.
