Given this information, the probability of life is 100%, and the probability of complex life is extremely likely. Given that information, it also proves that humans are in no way significant in terms of the universe...to think we are significant in any way is thinking from 500+ years ago. Moreover, I play poker. I therefore know what variance is. Variance explains everything that's happened in the universe 100x better than theories about god could have

C'mon... You guys are pushing this way too far. There are plenty of intelligent Christians and other religious people. It's perfectly legitimate to ask why this is so. But (in my opinion) it hurts your credibility to claim 99.99% of all religious people are stupid. And I can't help pointing out how atheists don't clam up just because it's another atheist making a ridiculous claim. This is far different than in Gunth's OP where I didn't see too many Christians lambasting the idea that not killing 1 person to save the lives of many was ridiculous.

You say the only reason people say you're dumb is because you believe in God in a thread where most of the atheists are arguing and trying to bet money belief in God doesn't in and of itself make people dumb. Im not sure what other conclusion i could make.

This is a super rare instance where atheists are not letting a ridiculous claim by another atheist slide.

I wasn't referring to you. You were the one asking the question, so I would expect you to play the devil's advocate and defend the contrary point of view. But other Christians should have jumped in on the side that was clearly the most rational thing to do. They did not.

That's the beauty of atheism and not having to defend irrational views based on some dogmatic principle. I am free to disagree whenever something doesn't make sense me. More importantly, I can also change my mind if someone else makes more sense.

This is not a rare instance. It is what it is. An unfounded claim was made that almost all religious people are stupid. There is no basis for such a claim so we reject it until evidence can be shown to back it up. Not at all unlike why we reject your religious claims. See how that works?
