He also told them a parable: “No one tears a piece from a new garment and sews it on an old garment; otherwise the new will be torn, and the piece from the new will not match the old. 37*And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins and will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed. 38*But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. 39*And no one after drinking old wine desires new wine, but says, ‘The old is good.’”
In this parable, both garment and wine represent beliefs or belief systems. The goal is to have our beliefs completely match with reality. The last line about drinking old wine is in reference to when someone is still convinced that their belief system is the master, or their belief system matches reality. If you already have the master, then you are not going to look for anything new.
When we begin to sense a disconnect in our lives and open up to new truths, our initial move will be to use reason to supplement our pre-existing beliefs. When Jesus is describing new and old garment, he is explaining that this doesn’t work. Jesus taught deconstruction. He taught transformation. Not just new wine but new wineskins. Rebirth. Resurrection. If your belief system about reality only includes beliefs and doesn’t include the deconstruction or transformation of the human individual, then you do not have the master.
That is why I have spent so much time in the past on this forum trying to communicate the limits of rationality and the intellect. Only relying on reason is attempting to sew pieces of new garment on the holes of old garment. If we throw the old garment away, then what we rely on to carry this task out (intuition, moral truth) will automatically provide us with new and improved garment.
I have been posting stories and attempting to describe reality, saying this is what the master looks like, but I am not doing this for people to absorb it all through reason. I am trying to convey the message of deconstruction and explicitly describing the process. The idea is to feel your way through it and track it onto your own intuitional experiences.
I have been through the deconstructions over and over again, and what I am indirectly saying is that everyone who claims that they have the master belief system that matches reality has eventually been exposed at the point that I am at now. There is only one person that is left standing and that is Jesus.
