I was looking through Google Images for pictures of Jesus, or at least artistic representations of him since nobody knows if he even existed let along what he looked like. I found one pic showing a decidedly unchiseled Jesus and clicked on the link.

I PRAY to the Lord Jesus EVER NIGHT to spare Darelen cuase she a MUSH BETTER Christian than any ones I knows.

Tonite I find out that the Lord ignoring my prayers and gone killed Darlene!!!!!

I am crying as I type this here post!!!! I HATE JESUS!!!!!

Yes He die up there on a cross 2,000 years a go but He ain’t done **** for me or any ones else since!!!!!

Screw His sorry ass!!!!! All He want is complements and He can’t raise a finger to SAVE PRECIOUS DARLENE!!!!!

I hate Him! I hate Him! I hate Him! I hate Him! I hate Him! I hate Him! I hate Him! I hate Him! I hate Him! I hate Him!

Darlene was worth 4000000000 of Him cause He a stupid lazy peace of ****!!!!!!

THERE I SAID IT!!!!!
To my surprise it was an ostensibly conservative Christian blog containing a haphazardly written careening diatribe against Jesus for being worthless and failing to save his sister who had cancer. Having never visited any blogs of this type before, I'm just wondering, is this par for the course? Is this kind of apocalyptic disillusionment common among people who have been lied to their whole lives by religious authority figures, especially their parents? I was also confused to see "Liberals, Atheists not welcome" on the site's banner, as such a stance seems in diametric opposition to most of Christianity's sects' desire to proselytize as many poor vacillating souls to their cause as they can.

It clearly stipulates in the contract that Jesus is in no way responsible for any injuries or deaths that occur in his kingdom. As usual, this is just a case of someone not reading the fine print and then getting all bent out of shape when they realize what a mess they've gotten themselves into. Suck it up and next time don't sign such a poor contract. I mean, it's not like he didn't have a choice. He could have just as well remained in perpetual prebirth, perhaps sucking on the unincarnated insurance teet of God.

****ing hypocrites.

from the second comment:

Quote:
The Lord has done countless things over the world’s 6,000-year existence that are inexplicable and seem to be downright mean. Drowning everyone (including unborn babies) didn’t seem like a very nice thing to me, but ours is not to question why. The Lord had His reasons, and we can’t figure them out because, unlike Him, we are limited, flawed beings.

lmao. how the hell can ppl be this ****ing stupid...

I unfortunately can't quickly find the link, but I remember either Gallup or Pew did some polling on this and reported that some absurdly high number of Americans (IIRC ~40%) displayed young earth creationist beliefs, ie, claimed to think that the Earth was less than 10,000 years old. The unfortunate thing was is that it wasn't even some universal idiocy shared the world over; Americans were 4x-5x more likely to think that than the rest of the developed world.

Having said that, I don't see what this OP has to do with politics.

To be fair, it may not be that they are mislead by thier faith, they may just be dumb. You have seen things like the Jay Walk AllStars and other man on the street interviews haven't you.

My favorite part (from response #2):

Quote:
P.S. If you look deep into your sister’s past, you can probably find the reason the Lord decided to slaughter her so violently. He just knocked off Patrick Swayze, who seemed like such a nice man — until you remember that he donned women’s clothes and played a **** in “To Wong Foo.” The Bible makes clear that a man is never to wear women’s clothing (Deuteronomy 22:5).
Also, this very important thread needs to be seen and discussed by the religious scholars in RGT.

You're right. I didn't find the link I was looking for, but I did find this:

Although 45% of Americans believe that humans were created by God pretty much in their present form at one time 10,000 years ago -- a view that corresponds to the account of creation as presented in the Bible -- only 34% of Americans believe that the Bible is the actual word of God and is to be taken literally, word for word.
So yeah, the question isn't QUITE young earth creationism, but it's pretty interesting that ~1/4 of the type of people who think God placed humans on Earth 10k years ago aren't even deriving that belief from the Bible. I can forgive people who think their trip to heaven depends on believing the Bible literally, ergo they're forced to claim some wild stuff, but I don't get the people who aren't Biblical literalists but think some pretty obviously counterfactual stuff anyway.

One of 2p2's highest functions is to make us level-haunted and train us to spot obvious phonies like that board. I'm going to stop typing now on the off chance this OP is a level too.

I was ambiguous there, the way in which the post was written obviously didn't surprise me at all, just the content of it.

Assuming that that rant wasn't just a level, it's really sad. I don't mean that in the mean sense of the word, I mean that in the 'this guy just lost his sister and has to question his faith" sense, which I think is pretty heart-breaking.

That person is either insane, or a trolling liberal. The whole website/blog is a joke, and is written by someone with either deep personal issues, or someone who is trying to demean a group/idea that he or she disagrees with.
