God allows the devil to do certain things. If this whole world was living like Jesus, then the devil would not be allowed to do 1 % of what he is allowed to do today if not 0%.

The devil influences a lot of people, but only those who God allows. Anyone who turns back to God and does what He asks, the devil is stripped of his rights over that person.

Actually we allow people to do what they do, we have lots of power and when you allow someone to take your rights away its your fault and not theirs!

Christians are wishy washy and afraid to offend others most of the time.

But if you give the devil an inch he takes a mile.

PC (politically correct) has something to do with the evil thats running rampant in this country also!

You have to be able to call a spade a spade, whats wrong wrong, and who cares if the person in the wrong gets offended, what a joke.

Like all this immigration stuff, OMG thats retarted, are we supposed to let those people who are illegally in our country dictate and mandate the laws of our land?

I don't think that they are afraid to offend others... because anyone who follows God's Word knows they have absolutely nothing to be afraid of. I think its more that they care for those around them too much to the fact that they allow certain things to slide.

There is definitely a fine line God wants us to walk, but it is very hard to find that line and learn to walk it, especially this day and age. It's like a circus performer with a tightrope but thinner.

I agree its a fine line to walk and in order to walk it like Christ you have to be spiritually minded thats for sure, you have got to be plugged into the source of all power in order to know when to say this and that.

The devil plays on the emotions and gets people into the idea that they shouldn't hurt somone elses feelings, when in all reality you are just going to hurt the devils feelings and thats why he has all this PC stuff set up, so that he can let his evil run rampant.

The devil has no feelings its a figure of speech, just meaning that if you are being PC when you should be calling evil evil you just give him room to move his evil.

All people are free to wear religious garments and pray to their gods during school. It's only prohibited for the teachers to teach that any religion/religious teaching is true.

Go ahead and dress up like the pope and praise Jesus in school, it will be ok.

Opposite for me. From when I was maybe 7 to 16 I had religious education multiple times a week.

No way there should be time spent learning about Jesus and Christianity in school especially with taxpayer's money used to fund it.

They had money to fund an R.E department in high school where it was mandatory for the 1st 5 years (you could get out on religious grounds I'm sure) and you could even do it for A-level. On the other hand, they only had IT for my first 3 years, and I couldn't get any qualifications in it.

Well played school, well played.

Edit: To be fair though, it was kinda balanced. Like they'd give the viewpoints that some people believed in gods and others didn't (opium of the people etc). It was still very definitely highly skewed towards belief though.

Gunth,

Unless you've done some research on the issue you're starting a thread about, perhaps it's a good idea to take a less authoritative approach and simply ask others for their experiences, etc.

Agreed, i was not aware on how in depth this thread could get, and really haven't had that much time lately to present my case.

Only a few posters out of the 1000 that viewed though can recall being taught any background on Christianity or it's effects on today's society though. Maybe tonight i will look more into this.

well, do you agree or not? on one hand you say you do, but otoh you seem to still be clinging to the idea that you're correct on this issue.

I really don't think that 1 million copies sold worldwide really backs up that it is taught in depth to the majority of students like they are suggesting. Not only that there is a lot of content in books given to students that is not even touched.

So then your stance should be that it isn't taught enough - not that it isn't taught at all. Is this your new stance?

I'm assuming yes. Care to share what you think should be taught, specifically?

Assuming that 1000 people really have viewed this, most of us just choose not to play into your silly games. Saying that only a few can recall having been taught about Christianity is just a lie.

That's one book. You want the data on all the others?

What does it matter? Gunth starts with a conclusion in mind (not enough education on Christianity in schools, the bible is god's word, Jerry Yang winning WSOP is evidence that god's okay with poker, etc.) and works backward from that conclusion to find the reasoning. Presenting data to make a competing point won't work in changing his mind. When you begin with a conclusion and then seek to cherry-pick the reasoning to support that conclusion, you typically aren't going to be convinced of the falsehood of that conclusion.

It's why science has infinitely more veracity than religion.

I made this thread because not one time was Jesus, or any Bible story brought up in all my years of school.
Schools i went to never ever discussed anything about the opposing views of religion.
This is a verrrry big subject in today's society that has a huge impact on decision making, so for a school to just completely avoid it is ridiculous.
Some schools may do this, but for some not to is messed up.
If you can't see where i am coming from through your hate then stay out the thread please.

I'll go into whatever thread I damn well please. And I'll stop the "hate" (not that I hate you in any way, I just think you're a deluded mess of a person and kinda feel sorry for you) when you ANSWER THE POINTS MADE BY OTHERS IN THIS THREAD.

Quit tooling around with one-liners and telling us all how we must behave in order to get some serious answers from you. YOU are the one who has made unsubstantiated claims, others have challenged those claims thoughtfully on a number of levels, and you continue to assert the truth of your position while basically telling us all you'll get back to us on the points we've made -- yet you never seem to.

It's Saturday -- have you not stumbled across the four seconds it would take you to give us the name of your Western Civ textbook yet, since you remember everything from high school?
