O rly...where's my husband on here?

Btw...the bible is addressed to believers....we're not suppose to be even yoked with unbelievers so I'm pretty sure a Christian doesn't have to follow the words of an unbeliever.

While you're at it read this:

http://www.crivoice.org/WT-call.html

Then these scriptures:

Scriptures for consideration:
1 Samuel 25:2-35
Matthew 25:1-13

1 Samuel 2:19
Luke 7:36-50

2 Kings 4:8-10
Mark 12:41-44

2 Samuel 20:14-22
John 4

Luke 2:37
John 11:27

Exodus 15:20-21
Matthew 28:27

Judges 4-5
Acts 2:16-17

2 Kings 22:14-20
Acts 12:12-17

Luke 8:1-3
Acts 18:24-26

Matthew 9:18-26
Acts 21:8-9

Luke 15:3-10
Phil 4:2-3

Luke 18:1-18
Romans 16:23
(Who does Paul mention first?)

Don't forget to research who Priscilla was.

Have a nice day DL.

I know you're the new kid on the block so you probably don't know. These topics are regularly discussed here.

Try reading Tim Keller's The Reason for God he has quite a lot to say on these topics and his slavery section is a masterpiece.

Are Christians today being indicted for the sins of their ancestors? What if these people aren't our ancestors? What if you're an Italian American Christian living in New Jersey and have no ancestors from the ante-bellum South?

Are you responsible for your ancestors' crimes? If your parents held any politically incorrect beliefs should we attribute them to you DL?

Try reading up on John Wesley's letter to William Wilberforce. Wesley the founder of the Methodists influenced Wilberforce into ending the slave trade.

Also a lot of leading abolitionists were Christians.

Well then that is the New Atheist mistake. Putting themselves in God's place and thinking they can condemn everyone who disagrees with them.

People aren't perfect to the degree God is whether they are atheists or not. So God has a legitmate claim to authority that a human being will never have.

We were born into our state. One sin or a million it makes no difference we are born into a state. The point of accepting Christ as your Savior is to exchange spiritual states.

Nah, I'm pretty sure it was just an inconsistency in your reasoning.

I don't think God condemned them. I think they are responsible for their own actions. They gave up their spiritual state. Partly because they were deceived. But only partly.

And most likely because its only partly that God will redeem us.

They were walking with God and knew him personally yet believed a lie against him.

What's wrong with God proving the lie to them so they will repent and he can then redeem them? He is in the act of mending a relationship with the human race. Only the human being's own selfishness gets in the way and there are so many forms selfishness can take that it does get confusing.

You can contrast A&E who are partly wrong with the devil who is fully and premeditatively wrong.

Besides humans have no idea of the time, power and other factors that go into constructing created beings from matter. Maybe its much more efficient of God to work with us than start over.

No atheists think God condemned the human race.

I don't. I think redemption is a reparative work after humans stepped out of their spiritual state. After the step it opened them up to further types of sinning.

Humans are the offspring of A&E. As such we are born into the same state as they acquired by their own actions. They couldn't pass a spiritual state down to us because they didn't have it. Only God gives it back to us.

All this suffering atheists condemn could be from our weaker physical bodies response to earthly conditions since we lost our spiritual strength or it could be a managed process so we start to explore our existential condition. God is the one who re-supplies spiritual strength...that's why we eat the bread of life.

Even if our changed state wasn't a result of A&E's actions but a result of God's how can we justify God giving eternal life to a bunch of people who will tolerate evil? Wouldn't evil just grow bigger and exhibit more and more terrible manifestations?

Any that claim authority must enforce it.
Impossible to do for an absentee authority.

Whatever happened to man having dominion and authority. Oh wait, man does as we impose our authority while God hides in shame for not being able to impose anything.

Some theological interpretations present Adam as surrendering his legal right to the Earth to Satan.

That's why we are in the mess we are in and need to be redeemed.

An article explaining the relevant passages and some of the "technicalities":

Ya ya. Satan with his demons and talking animals.
Ya ya . All real. Them and the water walking immortal God who somehow dies.

Give your head a shake.

You're clearly not a bible authority as you've made a lot of statements that demonstrate a lack of knowledge about the bible.

Also when you talk to someone in a Sam Harris vein it undercuts your debate worthiness.

There are groups like the Libertarian Alliance that have an agenda to change the world through propaganda. I don't see why an atheist organization wouldn't use the same tactic especially when we've got you mass posting the same message in multiple forums on the internet.

About the Libertarian Alliance:

They use agitprop to get their message to the masses. Agitprop is a type of progaganda.

From "About the Libertarian Alliance":
http://www.libertarian.co.uk/index.htm

Propaganda is a form of dissemination of ideas intended to overwhelm independent thinking and societal norms and drive a cause.

Nice to know that there are others that try to help poor thinkers to a better path.

You might gain from reading whatever they are saying.

You seem to think me an atheist. My closest label is Deist but I do not take it as far as belief in a God. At least not your definition of God. Mine is a cosmic consciousness. I have no more evidence for it as you have for yours unfortunately.
