Dude, first if something like this is bothering you this much for several days, you really need to find a way to relax. Or else posting in RGT may be too stressful for you. May want to stick to BBV4L. Or just put on a relaxation cd or meditate or something. Maybe a hot bath with some of those lavender bubbles - very soothing. Remember, just breathe in and out slowly.

Also, there are far worse things people can be than hypocrits. And I'd be willing to wager that you're being a hypocrit just by saying that because how many of us are so consistent that we never act hypocritically?

i've thought about it, and i honestly cannot think of anything. the closest thing is when i'm at work and i act nice to people who i would never, ever hang out with outside of work. but i don't see that as being hypocritical. perhaps you can convince me otherwise...

i admit i'm selfish. i'm not giving up my xbox to feed a few kids in Africa. i'm not stopping playing golf to put clothes on a fellow humans back.

i will continue to think something that would qualify as me being hypocritical, and i'm open to hearing examples you could throw out there that might apply to me.

If being a hypocrit ocasionally about one's religious beliefs is the worse thing that someone can say about someone else, then I'd say their doing pretty well. There are really bad people out there who do really bad things. I don't think I need to go into detail. Also, if a someone is promoting a positive message (I'm not saying these religious themes always are, but at least the person believes they are), even if they don't follow it perfectly is it bad that they are promoting the message. Especially if they are talking to themselves as well?

I'm just saying, while being a hypocrite isn't great, we all do it ocassionally, and for the most part its probably not too serious.


Well, the example you gave is probably one. I don't know you, I'm just saying that its hard to be completely consistent, and most people don't do it.

You say you're sometimes selfish. So I guess if you took someone to task for being selfish, you'd be hypocritical. Listen, most of the time its small things. Not like the republican family values guy who goes to hookers on the side. You'd be a better judge if you are or not. Maybe you're not.

I have a question. What if you didn't have to give up your Xbox and could still play golf? What if it was like $20/30 a month to stop a child kid from starving to death, to get both food and medical care for them and their family? To send them to school?

why can't he just say, "i believe life should be protected at all costs, but i admit i've fallen short of actually doing that myself."...or, "i believe life should be protected vigorously." even that isn't close to the same as saying "at all costs"

Maybe it is hard to be consistent (i don't rly buy it, but i could be wrong), but surely you'd admit it wouldn't be hard for him to make a change such as the one's i gave above?

maybe it's because he prefaced his statement with, and i'm paraphrasing, "because i'm a believer of the christian bible..." that it really irked me. also having to associate their religion with the best possible course of action for any given issue.

i do see what you're saying, but i think you have to understand that some things bother me more than they do you, and visa versa. it's just the way it is. like jib saying this bothers me way more than anything Pletho could ever say about any subject.

do you ever feel guilty for indulging in unnecessary comforts knowing you're not saving someone from dying by eating/taking in/wearing/etc those comforts?
