It's too bad. I used to think that the grounded wisdom we see in spiritual disciplines could easily be preserved in a secular world, but I'm not so sure any more. People may need a, an "incentive" to look beyond what's in front of their noses, and I'm not sure there exists a good secular incentive for most people.
I'm curious enough that I just like exploring mentally, so I think I've at least developed an appreciation (if not an understanding) of these things, but a lot of people seem awfully concerned with only looking straight ahead.
