The wise person both kills unworthy meanings but also uses them in pursuit of sustained meaning.
For example, a wise person might aim at acquiring money even though he has already recognized the pursuit as an unworthy meaning and killed it. He then creatively uses visualization to get his hopes up upon achieving his goal. Once the goal is achieved and he feels the emptiness of despair, he will then capitalize on it by accessing willpower that previously had been inaccessible to him.
He now has access to more willpower to use toward the ultimate aim of sustained meaning.
