A 10-minute video from ABC News:

http://abcnews.go.com/US/video/face-...alism-10744135

I have no idea how widespread these views are, and I offer no commentary on the views themselves.

The video as a whole is worth a watch. I wouldn't say that I found it to be either deep or profound, but it's interesting enough for me to share it with RGT.

When I hear people talk like this I always think of the phrase "social gospel". Of course, Christians should be the light of the world, the salt of the earth, do good to all men, etc. And I think they certainly do as much good if not far more than the political involvement of the "religious right" which they are ostensibly replacing, at least by inference in this video.

But I listened to the whole thing and didn't hear one word about the Gospel itself. Very possibly because it was produced by the mainstream media which unlikely has a clue what Gospel means, or would care if it did.

So I'm not commenting on the people in the vid, they may be very strong, Bible based believers - can't tell from this, and that's my basic problem, really.

At one point the leader asked "What does it mean to follow Jesus?". The correct answer is only partially given here. Which may be just a fault of the format.

eh, no offense but this probably belongs in the video thread. especially since, as the OP, you didn't really have anything to offer as far as a conversation starter.

that said, i did watch it. what did you find interesting in the video? i thought it was pretty so-so and didn't really hear anything new. sorry, not trying to bash you for posting this but maybe you could offer up something about your opinion of it to make this a thread worth having?

Hah. That Newsweek title was the purest sensationalism. I was looking at S.E. Cupp's
Losing Our Religion: The Liberal Media's Attack on Christianity and she was saying that a lot of the what's happening in society doesn't match the way it is being portrayed in the Liberal media. She's an atheist that spends a lot of time studying political developments from a conservative pov.

Sensational titles are bad, agreed.

I'm wondering if it was just the focus on answering the questions that gave this impression. You might have a point though.

Faith without works is dead but the Christian faith without Christ isn't Christian faith.
