From watching the video, I have learned that OP's friend most likely goes to church on Saturday which is the true Sabbath, not Sunday which is the Pope's Sabbath (aka Antichrist's Sabbath).

To be the One Anti-Christ you have to teach against the things that Christ says, right? Lead people away from Christ, make yourself to be the Messiah.

The Catholic Church teaches:

Go to Mass each week
Confess your sins
Bible is inspired Word of God
Believe in Jesus, in God, in the Holy Spirit
Abortions, practicing homosexuality, using contraception etc, is immoral
etc...

Many of you may disagree with specifics of these, but does this sound like something the Anti-Christ would say? To lead you toward a moral life and toward Christ? No.

If you say that a Pope will be the Anti-Christ is unscriptural, To say this is Pope Benedict is absolutely ridiculous.

I speculate that the Anti-Christ will be born from the Catholic Church likely from a priest or bishop and a nun who are breaking their vows. For Satan loves to perverse the most holy of things, and priests and nuns are supposedly holy.

I also think that Muslims embody the 'anti-christ' spirit more than any other organized religion right now. The Bible teaches that antichrists are those who don't believe that Jesus is the son of God, which the Muslims do not.

Your friend is wrong because there is no such things as the Anti Christ or The Beast.

Unlike the antichrists, the beast is a specific individual. One argument says 666 was Hebrew numerology for "Nero" an emperor of Rome who persecuted Christians. Whoever it was, this "beast" lived in the first century AD, so it can't be the Pope, etc.

The father is a priest and the mother is a nun, interesting. Here's an even more perverse idea. The antichrist will be the unnatural spawn of a priest and an altar boy. Sort of the opposite of the immaculate conception. The filthy conception.

Whoever the anti-christ is I would doubt he would go riding around on a 7 headed dragon with a 666 beanie. This info would clearly be concealed but if one were to look deep enough would be able to find the true answer.

Jerok- The bible has made it clear that the beast will come in the form of a "fake god or religious entity" essentially so people will believe him. from the things the catholic church has done -changing dates and times, persecutions, claiming to be able to forgive sin, it seems to be more related to the prophicies of the anti-christ rather than a religious group.

dnight- I did not read your link since its 10 pages long but ill give you credit and agree with you and say the 1260 thing is a stretch (idk if it is or is not but ill agree with you for sake of argument) but how many different things out you going to see that you say "ya thats true but a stretch" before it becomes evident that it is reality.. 10,50,1000?

I clearly shows why the "start date" that your friend and his fellow ******s picked is basically random just so they can claim the the period equals 1260 years.

finally, i dont judge a claims truthfulness based on it being a huge stretch for all 100 parts of the claim. Even if a claim has 1000000 parts, each part being weak in itself has no bearing since its very easy to twist something so vague into whatever you want it to be.

The "Pope (or Papacy) as Antichrist" idea goes back to the late Middle Ages, and was especially popular during the Reformation, largely as a way to convince people to abandon Catholicism. If the Wars of Religion in the 1500s and 1600s counts as "the Pope" murdering 100 million Christians (Protestants), the figure is still a bit high, but maybe on the right track.

The short end of it is, this is a really old and not particularly original idea. The wonderful thing about Bible "prophecy" is you can find things to make most anything fit. So I'll call bull**** on this idea, but only because as another poster said, the Pope is not the Antichrist because the Antichrist is a fictional character.

There are MANY ANTI-CHRISTS...its a erroneous teaching that there is specifically ONE.

To make things very simple a ANTI-CHRIST is ANYONE who is against Christ, what he did, what he made available ect...

666 was the number you get when you add up all the letters in Nero, which is almost undoubtedly what a first century hebrew would have understood when confronted with the number as a symbol of the mark of the beast. it was Caesar.

the only reason people look for the anti christ now is because they wrongheadedly think jesus is coming back soon, and we should look for signs of the endtimes.
