i would they are... i tried pming one regarding the fact that anything from the church of satan was being deleted from the prayers thread... he infracted me for trolling after ignoring my pms

but then his infraction got reversed by someone with a brain

Were you just trolling or are you really a member? Because that would be kinda interesting.

As RGT is populated only by crazy religious wackos spirtual children of God, and Dawkins worshipping cold blooded liberal atheists rational believers in facts, there really is no need for much mod activity, as every thread is the just the same endless nonsense flame war rich and positive debate.

When dealing with two populations so polarised, mods can just sit back and watch, as every thread is akin to two massive dumb clever animals colliding, both equal in weight and size, with the result that every thread is just the same dull, tired, morons vigourous, interesting, clever people bashing heads with no end in sight, and no real need for any outside interference.

I would tend toward OP's suggestion that mods are not necessary in RGT. But since God seems to leave things up to man to work out, I don't think we can avoid the need for mods, and since man is inherently fallible, we will always question the competency of mods, and, well ... I don't know.

I can't speak for everyone, but I will generalize and say that most atheists will argue that it's just plain not true, one of the effects of that is that it can be bad for democracy.

Our objection is not that it's bad for democracy, it's that it is not true. however some of us also believe it is bad for democracy :P
