Where in the Bible, specifically, does it say that it is a sin (or even a mortal sin that will result in eternal punishment) to do so?

I keep hearing about it but I have never seen specific passages in the Bible that says so. Can anyone point out specific lines and phrases (quotes and links) indicating that it really is a sin? Or is it just one of those extra Biblical "tradition" things?

How about non-Christian religions? Which ones consider it a sin? I know the Stoics encouraged it. But I'm talking religion, especially Christianity.

Thou shalt not kill. It applies to everyone on everyone equally, including yourself on yourself.

To expand on this a little, what I hear most often is that all life belongs to God, and humans do not have the right to take what belongs to God, even their own lives. I think I heard one megachurch preacher guy say it was even covered under the prohibitions against theft because someone wanting to kill themselves was stealing that right from God.

Sure ya I could buy that.

If God created the universe, then he really does own it and can decide to put whatever rules he wants upon it and the creatures within it. That's uncomfortable to a lot of people, but just because something makes you uncomfortable doesn't make it false.

does this affect of ownership only apply to god, or does it apply to anyone who creates anything?

It depends on your view on free will/determinism and property rights a little bit. A Marxist thinks all things belong to everyone. A determinist thinks that nothing else could have happened but for you to create it, so it shouldn't specially be 'yours' and a Calvinist would believe that since God created everything and everything is predetermined, He owns his whole creation including the creations of His creations.

umm, no, I was asking YOU. You believe that god created everything and therefore gets to do whatever he wants with anything. Does this also extend to anyone who creates something?

I'm inclined to say 'yes, so long as the use of that infringes on no one elses free enjoyment of their own existence' which is of course, intricate as well as possibly conflicting with other principles that I might hold dear.

from my own limited experience with it, reading dostoevsky, having a close friend commit suicide and the subsequent nightmares involved, i'd say that those who kill themselves have a bad road ahead of them in the afterlife. not irretrievable, but a bad road.

oh btw, read a book, cobain didn't commit suicide, he had too much heroin in his system to pull the trigger of a gun. more than likely, love had him killed because he wanted out of the music business. in the end, she stole his songs.

There is a documentary on netflix about it. Love hired a private investigator and the PI thought it evidence clearly pointed to Love and one of her guy friends who conspired to have him murdered.(which I get seems weird if you are the guilty party. Seemed more of 4d chess play...why would I hire PI if I’m guilty!?)

The police completely botched the investigation. Sounds lol conspiracy theory, but **** doesn’t add up.

For the heroin thing, they were saying that because he had SO much heroin in his system. Enough to OD a horse. Also, people generally take heroin and then commit suicide. Sure you might OD but you are high and feeling good so that raises flags. The forensics were very suspect as well.
