Thought people here might find this of some interest:

"Losing my religion for equality"

(Yeah, he still believes in the magical sky daddy.)

and he never noticed this 4 decades ago. 3 decades ago, 1 decade ago.

If he has ever said anything about getting his/our morality or "moral compass" or the like from religion then why is he picking and choosing ... what ruler is he measuring his religions morality with?

When I read this article I think what the world would have been like with a truly good bible education for the last 2,000 years.

Jimmy Carter was a bible teacher yet somehow he overlooked 1 Peter 3:7.

Now imagine if everyone in the Christian countries had been told this verse and the religious leaders had reiterated it.

There would have been a reform in attitudes towards women a lot earlier.

I appreciate Carter's sentiments. But God already said it. Its the leadership in the churchs that failed to pick God's message up and convey it to the masses.

what verse, this one?

"A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. " - 1 Timothy 2:11-12

Verses like this give me a business idea. Pick your favorite Bible verse and have it made into a t-shirt. But for a discount, you can order 10 or more t-shirts with randomly selected Bible verses. Lots of fun possibilities there. Kind of like this website, but with t-shirts.

Actually that site's footnote makes it less fun. "Program picks a verse at random from a preselected list of verses." My guess is the really fun verses didn't make the list. I'd include them all.

No Carter probably just overlooked 1 Peter 3:7 like most people do. They're too flooded with the Adam & Eve story and forget the NT was an update.

As for the Timothy verse that's God's wisdom. He knows men and in general a lot of them (note: I didn't say all) are natural born chauvinists. Good luck a women teaching them anything as important as the bible. Most men will listen to a woman colleague or friend before they will defer to their own wives so is it any wonder God told women to take the backseat and be silent?

Huh? He could just as easily have told men that chauvinism is stupid and wrong.

He did.

"Do unto others...." not do unto just men.

Think about it like dancing. Someone has to lead. Leadership doesn't include misogyny some people just can't make the fine emotional distinctions. They get their wires crossed. What do you want from "fallen man"?

Leadership doesn't include misogyny. Exclusively male leadership does.

Everyone hates on Carter and being mostly a libertarian i don't agree with all his politics but he seems like an all around good guy and most genuine President the US has had in my lifetime, probably why he was a failure at it.
