I think I said it years ago. I'm not going to spend all day searching thru years of posting. I did find this one though.

I don't think the probability is very high that God I worship actually exists. Still if He does I think I will be rewarded because I believed in him as much as I am able.

My own feeling is atheists are everywhere.....even in heaven.

Here's one from January 2009.

When my father was in the ICU a couple of weeks ago on deaths door, I prayed for him. It was a sincere prayer. Probably my first sincere prayer in a long time. Apparently I still have enough confidence that it is strong enough to influence my behavior. Clearly I am a theist.

Oh and my father made a recovery.

Man-crush. When was the last time we talked before this? 2 months ago? If anything I've been ragging on Jib a ton more than I have on you lately.

Even if I granted a "man-crush" that only shows that I view you as a little bit more sane and able to hold a conversation than Pletho, Gunth, or Splendour.

Congratulations.

I lost interest in the God of resurrection and redemption and gained interest in the God of creation.

Translation: I don't believe in Jesus anymore, but I still believe in a generic god because the concept makes me feel good.

How is belief in a "generic" god supposed to make one feel good?

tbf, he has yet to say if it does or does not make him feel good...

Believing the universe has some kind of grand, ultimate plan guided by some sort of thinking, caring being is quite a comfort to weak minded people, I imagine.

I also imagine that those people that are comforted by such fantasies will not admit so, and will try to pretend within themselves and to others, that they have some other reason or justification for believing as they do, when they in fact do not.

Being consoled by the idea of god is always a part of getting people to believe to begin with. Nobody believes in a god they do not like.

None of what you wrote there makes any sense. You have shown yourself time and again to be much more weak minded than I and you are an atheist while I am a theist. Observation does not match your supposition.

Also I would say I still believe in the God of redemption and ressurection as my actions are clearly influenced by the notion. For example....I prayed to that God when my father was in the ICU. Is that the action of a non believer?

Don't worry Stu. Rize is the posterboy for angry teenage atheists worldwide.

As much as I jest, I really wonder why this is. Why are you so hostile on here Rize?

No original content...if you only opened the first page and didn't look anywhere else.

Although, I do see that I struck quite a nerve calling you out on your level account. Maybe I can write about how petty and egotistical you are.

This has the glimmer of attraction as an argument. Although I'd rather not believe on the level of "intellectual neatness", it's true that I quite like the God I find myself believing in.

That was my point - I was agreeing with you that it's something a believer should address. (Conceding the burden of proof, if you like).

I'm sure if I make a thread about it I will only get yelled at and get ad hominem'd by people accusing me of ad homineming
