I really always admired Barry Greenstein for doing this. Giving money from wins to charity. I'll be doing 8 percent of big cash wins, just to balance things better. I give 125 CAD a month to st judes... but like 50k would be like "For you, Jesus."... you know?

Just saw a bad report about St. Judes hoarding billions while parents sleep in the car during their child's treatment, disallowed a hotel room allowance. Maybe look into it a little if you are choosing them. Of course many charities are rife with corruption, and I'm not sure about the rep and status of Jude's myself, just happened to catch the article.

Never hurts to vet even a well-known charity before giving.

www.givewell.org has a great reputation (afaik) for identifying the most effective charities.

Don't give to charity to be admired by people. I don't admire you giving to charity but God admires you for it. Look to be admired by God. Telling others that God admires them to give to charity is a good thing.
