Hardly controversial that God's respect would be earned by everyone, not cheaply, coercively or automatically given.

You wouldn't give terrible parents respect, although they may have brought you into the world. Especially parents who abuse children.

Neither would you give a bad God respect although he/she/it gave us a world to be brought into.

If your life is hell, from little choice of your own, and some people's certainly is, God better do a lot to earn your respect.

God certainly did do this by sending his Son to suffer along side us, and shows his compassion in that way. But the world belongs to the devil and is under his power for a time.

He opposes and accuses the brothers and servants of the Lord Jesus day and night. Someone said something about "God won't appear on the witness stand", but Jesus is OUR lawyer and we are the ones who stand accused. Probably best not to dishonor your lawyer, lest he dishonor you..

God is the ultimate authority. He uses Satan for a purpose, and part of that purpose is to refine and test the saints, as gold and silver is refined by fire, just as the prophet Isaiah said " see what I've done? Basically separation between state and church. It also means children aren't brainwashed in schools and churches should not be exempted from taxes for some dumb reason. Also pedophiles shouldn't get the privilege of not being investigated by police because they believe a specific fairy tale.

Ban any funding to religious schools. Basically no funding needs to be allocated to religious activities.

Nah, if parents want to send their kids to a school that adequately educates them, that's good enough. Government shouldn't mandate what ideologies are children are or are not taught.

So you also think parents should be allowed to use whatever corporal punishments on their children they deem appropriate according to their religious beliefs? And withhold medical treatment against the advice of doctors if told to do so by their religious beliefs?

For the record, yes, I believe parents should be allowed to spank their children, although I don't believe they should be allowed to physically harm them. I don't believe parents should be allowed to deny medical treatment to their children for religious reasons.
