Any news?

How would people argue the existance of Satan against this pretty damning evidence?

I mean surely he'd have popped up pretending to be god? This guy's promised to go a-killin' and a-rapin' for the first omniscient being to put the call in. Seems a strange opportunity for Satan to pass on..

Also this thread will be moved to the appropriate forum. RGT wasn't created by God when this thread kicked off.

As promised by God, this thread has been moved to the appropriate forum.

Additional comments are welcome while the protagonist patiently waits for guidance and/or directions or visions or some form of revelation or etc., etc., etc.

Re: I will live exactly and completly as god tells me to from now on

What if the so called God or higher intelligence is the universe itself and the natural law as a whole and it speaks to you every day through your accumulated wisdom and interactions with others?

Does that count now as some serious input?

What if it is all you have? Would it be enough?

I say it is enough and it's all that matters. So what are you doing with it? What does wisdom suggest is the proper behavior in general towards others? I say clarity and wisdom creation is the objective. I say ethics based on logic and thorough study of the consequences of our actions, based on the recognition of the character of natural law and mathematics, founded on accumulated wisdom through effort, can lead to virtue and happiness.

And it is indeed a beautiful world after all with endless problems higher complexity can create and recognize. It is worth fighting for and realizing a better outcome as judged by an ever improving set of ethics and wisdom.

What is the purpose of the universe? To play the game. To interact, evolve and create complex systems with higher awareness. To experiment with higher complexity options and ultimately become wiser, understanding its own nature.

Slightly paraphrasing the poet;

We shall never cease exploring. And the end of our exploration will be to arrive at the same place again and see it for the first time.

This is how the world talks to you as wisdom/awareness evolves. You do not need to wait for special instructions. The whole thing is that.

Re: I will live exactly and completly as god tells me to from now on

Why would you expect God to talk to you directly? Wouldn't he use your conscience, your mind, your feelings, and other experiential operations to get his message through to you?

If you think deep enough about it He probably already has, you were just too busy stroking your own ego and superior intellect with sarcastic posts on the internet to notice.

Re: I will live exactly and completly as god tells me to from now on

A truly ethical God beyond selfish insecurities wouldnt mind if you didnt believe in their existence but you operated according to ethics that would conform to their higher principles and standards. They would invite the quest to their discovery though.

It is rational to require evidence for faith because all intelligence builds its structure of higher consciousness and awareness on evidence and experimentation. This is the game of this world if they made it as creator(s).

To have unquestionable faith without instantaneous permanent evidence is irrational as one can then have faith in all kinds of things that never were proven. Where is the line drawn?

In fact a higher intelligence would promote its discovery and salute the attempt to uncover the truth such as the work of science and math is. It would be remarkable to "prove" or strongly conclude existence through science. It is not impossible.

All this discussion about winning an afterlife in paradise conditional on faith and not on actual ethical conduct is unreasonable and selfish. It is intrinsic to religions because they have assigned human like qualities to Gods such as anger, vengeance and absolute superiority recognition as if the world is their toy and not something remarkable with higher value than a pure entertainment of a higher Ego. If one is ethical why is it important to have faith if they always remained open to proof?

Furthermore why is eternity judged on a finite existence in this world? Doesnt that imply this world is very important? Could it be that this world is all there is?

What is paradise after all? A perfect existence in peace and wisdom? Is it static? If it is static as in no need of improvement then it is not evolving and how can something not evolving to higher wisdom be a true paradise and an interesting existence? How can something not involving change be interesting and dynamical? If it is dynamical and simply superior to the qualities experienced here then it is simply another world. Maybe attainable in this one too by leading a life based on wisdom , cooperation with other intelligence and endless quest for the truth and discovery.

This world with ever higher consciousness and wisdom and the honorable struggle to attain them is the elusive paradise.

Not sure what kind of "God" you're talking about here. Zeus perhaps?

This would be true in theism, but not necessarily in deism.

A few questions, if I may, sir:

1. What is higher consciousness? Higher than what?

2. What is honorable about the struggle to attain them? What makes one thing honorable and another thing not honorable?

3. Why do you believe that attaining them is elusive? And if you did attain them, why do you believe it would be a paradise?

Thank you for sharing your ideas, masque de Z.

Benevolence or omnibenevolence is my least favourite quality people commonly attribute to God.

Benevolence seems better than omnipotence if you ask me.

OP, what if God got bored with his omnipotence, and decided that he would create a version of himself without access to his knowledge or power to live out life as a mortal, and you are that being, and the universe was created by your own higher consciousness as your playground? You should do whatever your own mind tells you without question or hesitation!

Benevolence is impossible to justify for anyone who hasn't lived a sheltered life. At least the downtrodden can picture God as having omnipotence.

This is exactly the kind of God I would support and be in worship of.

Not some insecure teen wanting to eternally live out a power fantasy.

I follow you. I meant something a little different than that. I agree that it's hard to believe in an omni-benevolent deity. I just meant I'd rather have one of those if it were possible.

Omnibenevolence, omniscience, omnipotence and omnipresence.

The quadratic recipe for...

Eternal boredom.

Joy exists not within power. Rather, in vulnerability.
My God is all about joy.

I'd rather have what there is to be had.

The kind of God worthy of my respect values the interconnectedness of good and bad; and the importance of both to each other.
