Has anyone researched this more? I find this pretty fascinating

Does anyone know of a Christian church that has actually accepted this as true sayings from Jesus?

I've read it many times. My take on it is that it's presenting a way to analyze the current situation (through means of interpreting the sayings) so that you can understand the current situation better. I don't know if these sayings originate with Jesus, but they're enigmatic and have given me some insight. I don't think I've ever heard of a mainstream church accepting them as Jesus' actual words, likely because they're not a part of scripture and don't seem to be presenting the gospel.

This is the version I've read.

Yeah. This guy claims the Bible is written in prophetic riddles (the mystery hidden from the beginning), and the GOT is a collection of riddles that teach you how to read it.

Some scholars think the gospel of thomas is evidence for Q because a lot of what is in the GOT can be found in luke/matthew.

As for it being scripture, I do not know of any church that considers it scripture. Important to note that there are a ton of non cannonical gospels that were written in the 2nd century. And its tough to say if GOT predates the cannonical gospels or should be lumped in with the dozen or so other non cannonical gospels we have.

That would be expecting too much. Biblical canon and church is more for the collective, whereas the GoT is for the individual. There is overlap, and some of what is in Thomas is pretty tame, but much of it is, I guess you can say, meant for the more advanced.

please beware that it might exists two "gospel of thomas" almost as the "gospel of barnabas" - at least one of them is in line with something called gospel. its name is epistle of barnabas though. also, beware of human misinterpretations and mistranslations.

also, i have found a Word of God about "gospel of Thomas" spoken to a living prophet in our time:

Question asked by Timothy: Lord, what do you say about the so-called gospels of Thomas, Judas and Mary?

Answer from Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior:

Timothy, if you read them, your spirit will cry false. For when the day comes that you come to live with these three in the Kingdom, My friends, you may ask them, and their testimony will be as that of the twelve, even as Luke and Mark. For these heresies are written by the devil and his apostates, imposters, who none shall find in the Kingdom, their names blotted from My book called Life. For whosoever blasphemes the Holy Spirit of God, for evil’s purposes, shall not find forgiveness in the Day of Reckoning. Their inheritance is in the lake of fire...the second death. By the power of satan’s forethought and planning were these gospels hidden, as it were, an ace in the pocket of the deceiver waiting to be played at his proper time and season, with the hopes to lead those who believe into doubt and destabilize their foundations of faith. For those, who have not believed the Truth, shall also believe the lies, only to the further hardening of their hearts against He who bought them and gave of His life to save them.

Therefore, know and understand. This is a great heresy plotted against your generation. It shall not stand, for those who are wise, and do know their God, shall be steadfast... yea, even a strengthening of their resolve in Me. They shall do exploits, and all, who genuinely seek after Me, shall find Me and shall not be moved...these shall not be found upon the earth in those days.

I am the Master. And the devil, the deceiver lost in his own deceptions, fighting a war already won in the hearts of the redeemed, who are the elect of My heart. All houses built upon the Rock shall stand and be lifted up. Those, built upon the sand of iniquity, apostasy, and all worldly foundations of false truths, shall be swept away in the great torrent of My Father’s judgments.

Beyond Belief by Elaine Pagels is an excellent read and deals directly with the "Secret Gospel of Thomas", aside from also being an interesting synopsis of early Christianity and its formation. I recommend it highly. Elaine has also written other historical/scholarly but popular books that are worth reading if you have an interest in the development of Christianity and the growth of its theology.

You can meet Jesus anywhere at anytime and anyplace. Something you should think about in a serious manner. Or not.

i think verse one or two, which says Jesus promises that the one who finds the true interpretation of that scripture will be the ruler of everything says pretty much what kind of believer a person is who gets stuck with it. as the lust of power is a trap by Satan!

btw, i have too believed it being true scripture.
