Gospel of Thomas Gospel of Thomas

I was having a religious discussion with a christian friend of mine and brought up the Gospel of Thomas. She hadn't heard of it so I explained that it's non-canonical and a saying Gospel and some of the stuff in it is kinda cool. She said that it sounded like blasphemy like the book of Mormon because it's not divinely inspired and I'm wondering if this is a widely held view of the Gospel of Thomas? For those that don't know here's a wiki link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gospel_of_thomas

I was wondering if she'd read it just to get her opinion, but it sounds like she's not interested. So christians like splendour, what are your views on this book?

Also please no "Get new friends" posts or anything like that, I'd like a reasonable discussion.

I'm not a Christian but my Dad is and he has said that it is not divinely inspired. That is the standard line of most Christians I think.

I don't have an opinion on it. I've only read part of it in the distant past so I don't recollect much about it.
