Maybe not relevant, but sure, you can make fun of other ideas. The forum prohibits attacks on the person making the post, but ideas are fair game.

Nietzche was of course wrong that God is not necessary for moral values, though. He was more like a herald, proclaiming what he saw and what he thought needed to be done than anything (since God is dead, we need a replacement to ground a morality!).

It's ironic that he didn't conclude that nihilism was true. We had a lengthy discussion on this topic in the Krauss thread. It's not possible to ground morality in not-God. It's either God or nihilism. Nihilism is the spirit of our age and has been for 150 years.

For some reason this really made me think. As individuals we will all inherently have our own moral compass, and have, in the end, only ourselves to contend with. Maybe we are our own god....

As someone who is Bipolar( and thinks about mental illness as it relates to morals and actions ) I am constantly thinking about humans as purely atoms and neurotransmitors etc etc. We are a slave to our genetic makupe, and maybe have very little free will if any at all. Sam harris talks about life being mostly luck, A PHD in rocket science is lucky he wasn't born mentally insane, and his genetic makeup made him who he is, I would think most people wouldnt choose to be junkie drop outs. You can look at studies where sleep deprivation for as little as 2 days drives people crazy, not much free will there.

I will say that when I am healthy I make good choices and have a good moral compass and strive to help others. What most would consider a good person. So are there healthy evil people, or only unhealthy people . what is healthy, and would that line of thinking turn into a socialist Nazi party looking to create a race that is only healthy, or moral( however you look at it)
