I find the whole thing another quite depressing example of how small minded and petty the human 'them and us' tendency is. Whilst the Atheists were disliking the Faithies, the locals were disliking the Yankees, and there are probably people all over the world reading that article and thinking 'Americans....'....
Yeah, we definitely need more monuments in the shape of benches. Come to think of it, we need monuments in the shape of street lights, sign posts, phone booths and shoe shining boxes too.
Personally I think a monument shaped like a homeless shelter or similar would have been a better use of the funds.
