I'd probably have something to say about that, if I had any idea why it is a reply to my post.

I mean, that's literally the exact point I was using as an argument.

Funny how so many 'evil doers' haven't been smitten from the earth in history, also funny how many of the faithful have. One explanation is that god is indiscriminately a monster, another is that there is no god.

Echoing TD, we obviously want minimise the effort/commitment in life and maximise our rewards in the afterlife.

The ideal scenario being deathbed conversion (thus no obligations prior to immediately before death) in return for infinite bliss. You may have to adjust for not knowing when you'll die, the general coolness of reincarnation, and the temptation to tell Nagel exactly what it's like to be a bat. But it's not like he'd understand you anyway.

I believe that the two are (or at least theoretically can be) related. A slothful or sinful life in the "here and now" could theoretically result in a loss of rewards in the "there and then."

In some religious doctrines they definitely are related. But we're talking about what criteria we'd prefer. And I'd prefer as few barriers as possible to salvation.
