Yeah, that murdering every child, infant and fetus on earth for something someone else did is just not very popular. Except for with you and those of your ilk, that is. You need to think about that instead of just regurgitating some doctrine and acting like, "Of course that is okay. It's holy, loving and righteous."

The more someone insists that they are in a magical relationship with some god, the more there is just nothing there but the insistence. This self-hypnosis covers over existential anxiety and dread, a.k.a. fear of death and not belonging. So the go to move is: "I'm living forever and I'm in the holy club." Problem solved. Meanwhile, the real story rages in the unconsicous, for which all this is compensation.

Everything is a reaction formation unless its underpinnings are brought into awareness and integration, instead of denial and escape. Everything we rep all day long is this compensation for the unacknowledged within. And we protest it too much. Dogmatic positioning becomes the way we keep existential realities at bay. When we elevate faith into a great virtue, we have completed the illusion. Admittedly, it is no fool that has designed this system. It works spectacularly on the human condition. But its working appeals not to reality but to illusion, not to self-knowledge but to escape.

And I used to be that. Like you. It is quite a devious move to consider non-supernaturalist understanding as blind, while one's own wishes and fantasies, verified by faith, are considered sight.

To take the position that religion is false and rationalism is true - this is your highest purpose? Your mission has been completed?

To take the position that thousand year old ghost stories and myths are true - this is your highest purpose and truth? That's your mission? Yes, that is your mission.

Let's see the list of other disciplines in which rationalism is the wrong path. Medicine? Engineering? Physics? Mathematics? Chemistry? Cosmology? Neuroscience? Law? Archaeology? Computer science?

Oh, none of those? Just religion? Hmm. I wonder why that is, Craig1120?

So in all fields, when we are legit, we incorporate rationality, the scientific method and other approaches to come to understanding and truth. But only in religion do we bash rationality as the enemy of what we believe to be true.

Rationality is a form of mercy. If you need mercy, you can sacrifice your mission and continue to serve it.

Here rests a moron; a charlatan; and a fiend. Not bad for someone that never existed in the first place.

The Kingdom is like a man that wants to kill someone who is powerful.

If that powerful figure doesn’t exist, while the man believes he exists, then the man wastes nothing. But if that powerful figure exists, and the man is tricked into believing he doesn’t exist, then the man is a chump.

No. If a man lives by a prescribed set of rules made up by other men and then the powerful figure doesn’t exist the man has wasted his singular chance to live life to his truest and best self

You speak the words of someone who does not truly know this world.

Do you know why the drunkard gets so angry when reality checks him? It’s not because he realized something knew about the world. He already discovered that truth.

He’s angry because he continues to drink the same wine which temporarily blinds him from the truth of this world, and he keeps getting smacked in the face by reality. He’s angry because reality is stronger than his wine.

Pascal's Wager is a kindergarten version of hedging one's "bet" and is totally anti-Christian in that just hedging one's bets is antithetical to discipleship which is demanded by the religion. Yet it continually is used by believers.

I speak to the one who demands from himself the freedom to take massive action backed by a burning desire. If the truth calls him to massive action, he is capable and ready.

The many who do not demand this from themselves will only have access to an impotent, intellectual, factual, social form of truth. And they will get stuck and remain stuck. All they can do is cope until they perish.

You're stuck in supernatural myths and tales and blatant fables laced with obvious human prejudice, limitation, ignorance, and barbarianism of thousands of years ago. Non-believers are "stuck" in using the best modern understanding to inform their actions and beliefs. That hardly needs to be said. But faith in that kind of standard is elevated to a virtue in order to propagate the superstition. It is what it is.

Myth is an opponent of truth, often even more than lies. Both are necessary to wield religion as metaphysics.

Believers love to use a bunch of mumbo jumbo philosophical word salads to make it seem they are making an enlightened choice when, in most cases, they are just carrying on with whatever customs and idiosyncrasies they were raised with which are highly dependent on where they were born and raised.

The fact that there are 100's if not 1000's of religions that believe they have the answer should raise some eyebrows but it never really seems to.
