Christian culture rallies around traditional values and the family, but does everything possible to insure disastrous marriages. The Bible itself recommends staying single for lack of responsibilities, yet most of the church encourages getting married and taking on responsibility. Growing up heavily in Christian culture, I can attest that the pressure to get married and avoid pre-marital sex is very real. In many Christian circles, single adults are marginalized. I've personally seen young, talented individuals wreck lives due to rushing into marriage.

The chief cause for higher divorce rates is probably that they get married more (as your link also states). Now, a pressure to marry can mean unfortunate outcomes for some people (couples staying together when they shouldn't, marrying too quickly, ostracism ) and it might also have some nice outcomes (better economy, much less use of resources, less depression, happier children(?) etc).

However, a few questions remain. Chief and foremost of which if the links you suggest are causal.

If we assume they are, what are the problems (if any) of the populace we are comparing too and which of these are causally related to the lesser trend towards marriage? That too is an important question that needs to be answered. We shouldn't hold things to perfection if we are comparing to imperfection.

You aren't citing the latest study released, either.

I can definitely confirm at least that much.

Growing up in church, it's rarely said out loud, but the general strategy for keeping people away from premarital sex is generally to get them married. It was also very common in the Christian circles I was in for people get married in an attempt to absolve themselves of the sin of premarital sex (as in, we're having premarital sex, but if we get married, then it's not so bad).

There was also a pretty high incidence of: Couple gets engaged, couple gets married really quickly, couple gets pregnant on the honeymoon, couple gives birth to a premature baby who is eight pounds and totally healthy - wink wink, nudge nudge.

If I was going to insure something, it'd probably be something I knew had a good chance of going wrong.
