God made the world that you cannot not have faith. You only might not have faith in God. The reason is that you think you can do it by yourself or through other things, that seem promising to you.
You say, you don't believe without evidence. But everything that you do, everything that you think is good and helpful to you, you have no evidence that they are helpful or good for you, sooner or later they will leave you or they will lose their effect. But you still believe in them.
So believing in things without evidence is your nature.

In a war when there are ten places of the same strategical importance and you win one of them but lose 9 others, this is not a success. Even if you would win one and lose another one, you wouldn't have gain anything.

Most of the time a rich man does something helpful, than it is either promotion or the money he invests, he have to pay it as tax anyways. Indeed their is just about no one, that if one would reveal everything that is unknown by others, he wouldn't feel ashamed. What we see from ppl, is mostly not more worth than a photo album. to 2) I didn't claim, at least I don't remember, that I did ever claim, I will show anyone a path to God. I only did try to show, that the way of atheists and scientists is not more than an empty box, cause death is comming. The box might look very pretty and promising, but it is empty. Another point that I did try to show with my example was that insulting is not always bad. An example is not a claim. So it must not be prefect in all of its parts. Instead of the example I could have say, an insult is when you say something about someone which is not true, but what I said, I still think, it is true. The dumbness of scientists was claimed regarding their science. In other matters they might be as smart as one can be.

to 3) I guess, science is a product of man wanting to find easier food and sex. It is not a product of love. How could someone be in love and concentrate on science. This is impossible. You will not find one person, who is in love and will think for a milli second on atoms. In a lovers mind is only the beloved.

Lots of things that Christians do, is a contradiction to what Jesus did praise. To call oneself Christ, doesn't make one Christian in the way Jesus describes Christianity.

Quite so, such people should be forced to live without science for a couple of weeks and then see how they feel. Without all that food and clothing and sanitation and running water and electricity and antibiotics, that's before we get onto the opportunities for travel, entertainment and social interaction.

Actually 2 weeks is probably too much, as most modern humans would die if unable to use the products of science over such a time period.

I don't get why religious people think the death arguement is some kind of trump card. I believe when I die, I die. I am not all of a sudden going to believe in a higher power just because I have a gun in my face or find out I have terminal cancer.

It is religious people who struggle with the what ifs. You all are the ones that have to question everything you do because most religions are impossible to follow in the modern world according to their respective books. So I can understand why the fear of death is ever present on your mind and the whole was I worthy enough to get into wherever it is you believe you go. I think you all struggle with this frequently and for whatever reason project it onto non believers

Invasion and occupation denotes an external enemy force taking over, which is interesting given the typical polemic nature of your posts. As a more sober sidenote, I think RGT has had angry people from day 1; so this hypothetical invasion seem far fetched.

There's also the fact that RGT was itself set up as a containment area to remove religious discussions from SMP. It's not like all the theists demanded a place for like peaceful contemplation and the unruly atheists invaded. It was created when religious sidetracks became a widespread problem in SMP.

That explains the antagonistic nature of many of the posters on here and why there are so many philosophy threads but the forum is woefully misnamed. It should be called SMP Containment.

Doggg, you seem too angry about this, I don't think a bunch of posters going back and forth with each other can really have you this annoyed. I know occasionally when I've really blasted someone, I think 'mmm, maybe I was taking out my emotional state on that person'. If you've got things going on in your life that have all riled you up, I hope they get better for you so you don't let things that don't matter get you upset.
