Nice catch. I have some experience with working with discrimination, and Cwocwoc's reasoning have always reminded me of certain women whom think it is impossible for them to discriminate against other women - as they are women themselves. You're going to have a problem if you try making jokes like that. You already have many posts in RGT and all of 2+2 that nearly everyone views as terrible, and those posts are indistinguishable from your 'parodies.' I have been complimented for many of my great insights but enough of that. Humour is often a form of honesty. In this case the OP points out that atheists often spoil their pants (paraphrasing) in the face of death and that's true. There are many recorded instances of death bed conversions and the like and you find lots of chaplains with troops who are fighting battles.

Why would someone who is near death, terrified, and acting irrationally possibly buy into whatever fantasy afterlife the person physically closest to them has to offer?

Is it far to call a deathbed conversion a real conversion? Isn't it more coercion, like selling a bottle of water for $50 to a man in the desert? Spiritual gouging, as it were? Much like the required child brainwashing religion uses, y'know, before their minds are well enough developed to make their own decisions? This is pretty offensive to theists imo. You are suggesting that an atheist has to be out of his mind with terror in order to believe in a deity. That is extremely disrespectful.

Sorry but this is not true. Everyone has faith. But atheists have faith for example in people who are the biggest losers in the universe history. Guess who I mean: scientists. Whatever they try, it never works. One might ask: How this can be true. Their aim is always to help, but till today they couldn't help anyone. People are still unsatisfied, unhappy , they still suffer diseases and they still become old and will eventually die. They don't get the point that if they for example heal a disease like AIDS, that hundreds other diseases are in the waiting list for comming to existence.
No matter which way they turn it, at some point it turns around again. They don't get the point that they cannot prevent this turning point. How dumb some ppl are, this is unbelievable. They think they are very intelligent (and most of them enjoy a high IQ,lol), although they miss the simplest and the most obvious point:
Nature is following another will. And they have no access to this other will. Nature will never follow their will. This knows every illiterate (with an IQ of 70) in a farm who did never see anything else in his life than some sheeps. And ofc he is more happy than every scientist who did ever live in this universe.

It's funny that you purport to know what scientists know. Trust me, they (we?) are very aware that there are many diseases and accidents that results in people dying and suffering. That doesn't make the pursuit of reducing these any less worthwhile.

Imagine you would see someone sitting in the middle of a highway and doing something what doesn't make any sense, while you see that a truck will soon run over him.

They did never reduce anything. Just think about pollution and the diseases caused by pollution.

If humans want to sleep just for one night a good sleep again, they should first of all ban every scientist from earth. One should kick their ass into one of the universes some million light years away.

That's just not true. I don't even know how to respond to such a statement that ignores so much of our current reality.

1) Whoever is a believer, did believe before he was born. Doesn't need me or my comments. And don't forget this thread begins with destroying and not with pleaseing.

2) I don't know in which current reality you live. You cannot prove a single thing which causes unhappiness, that they did reduce. Not a single one. Not only you cannot prove, no scientist can. They only lie because they need moneyzzzzzzzz and a good reputaion.

In the Biblical sense (belief without evidence), I have no faith / I do not invoke faith. Perhaps it is a character flaw or deficiency, otoh I like to think I am on the bleeding edge of evolutionary change I have no use for it.
