Isaiah 17:1

The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

Wikipedia

Damascus is the capital and the second largest city of Syria after Aleppo. It borders Quneitra, Daraa and As-Suwayda to the south, Jordan to the east, Homs to the north, and Lebanon to the west. It is also the capital city of one of the country's 14 governorates. In addition to being one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Damascus is a major cultural and religious center of the Levant. The city has an estimated population of 1,711,000 (2009 est.).[

Wall Street Journal

Arab leaders said Tuesday that Syria had used chemical weapons against its population, while Western governments discussed military responses to the attacks, bolstering the case for U.S. military strikes against the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The U.S. Defense Department has presented military options to President Barack Obama, Mr. Hagel said, without outlining them. Defense officials have said the U.S. is considering cruise-missile strikes from navy ships in the Mediterranean.

"We are ready to go," Mr. Hagel said.

From Iran:

As the United States sends a fourth warship to the eastern Mediterranean, Iranian commanders and officials have issued warnings against any attack on Syria in response to alleged chemical-weapons use by Syrian forces.

The director of parliament’s international affairs committee, Hossein Sheikholeslam, said today that the threats to attack Syria are “propaganda gestures by Washington, [who] wants to encourage the opponents of the Syrian government who have suffered heavy failures in the field and politically.” He added that “The strategy of Western countries and especially America is to destroy Syria and weaken its ability to fight against the Zionist regime.”

On the possibility of an attack on Syria, Sheikholeslam said, “Assuming such an event does take place, the first victim of an attack on Syria will be the Zionist regime, because the army in Damascus has the ability to attack with severity the occupied territories and can level a point that is tied to Washington’s national security.”

King James Bible.

Isaiah 17:12-14

12 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!

13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

14 And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.

And I think it's quite American-centric to assume that we have anything to do with the end times. From what I recall from lectures on end times, America shouldn't even exist by the time everything goes down.

And I'd rather choose to feel empathy for the sad state that Syria is in right now, instead of an "a-ha" moment of "told-you-so". Something like 100,000 people have already died in a terrible situation with no simple solution. There are a lot of awesome people over there, who are being threatened by massive nations who are pumping bazillions of dollars of weapons into the hands of several corrupt organizations.

Meh.

If I had a nickel for every time I read the above in RGT, I'd be a rich man.

The statement

has appeared exactly once in RGT, according to the search function (not counting your quoting of it).

I don't think we've really had a lot of end-time prophets in RGT. Have we?

Estimates of deaths in the Syrian civil war, per opposition activist groups, vary between 82,370[1][2] and 106,425.[3] On 24 July 2013, the United Nations put out an estimate of over 100,000 that had died in the war
