The OP's question was what God are we rejecting, so that's what I described. I'm less certain about dismissing your version. There's no evidence for it, but I don't think it's 110% against, as is the case with an anthropomorphic god. I don't reject the possibility that our universe was not inevitable -- that it was the choice of some sort of conscious entity -- but it is unknowable.

I'm pretty sure we're separate. I can take a scalpel to your noodle and you'll go on breathing, but you won't be able to think anything I can think, while I go on thinking just fine.

There is no "before" or "after" in Eternity. Eternity is Eternal Here-Now -- it is timeless (most people think of "eternity" as just a really, really long time).
Sounds like one of those illusions you were talking about.

Quote:
There is no "birth", there is no "death" -- there is just Eternal Being.
Sounds like a religious mantra. "There is no you, there is no me, there is are just Thetans who make people do everything".

How is your claiim any less nutty?

Also, I'm pretty sure you came out of a vagina (a process know as "birth"), unless you claim to have just appeared. Why dishonor your mother?

There is no "my self", there is no "my body" -- there is only consciousness.
So I take it you've donated your heart and liver and eyes to someone needy? Why do you need your body if there is only consciousness?

Yes, the greatest fear of the ego is death/extinction, and it will believe all sorts of things to avoid having to face its inevitable demise.
But consciously passing through Ego-Death in meditation is the very key to Life Divine (hence the message of all the enlightened ones: "lose yourself to find yourself").
So what all those other people believe about eternal life is ego emanations, but what you believe about eternity is special and not an ego-emanation? You've discovered the "truth" and the path and they're stuck in ego-emanations.

Grandiose much? Deluded much?

I didnt read most of the last page, so I donno if I am off topic or repeating something or what. Anyways, FWIW I don't really think about God at all.

Like, when I personally wonder why something is the way it is, at no point does it occur to me to even think of any type of God, or creator with a purpose. I believe for pretty much any question there is a scientific answer (even if I myself may not understand science good enough to understand the answer), and for the natural world I kinda believe evolutionary biology is sufficient to explain everything, including human behavior.

At no point to I even think about God one way or another. It is almost like whether there is a God or not is irrelevant to me, cause it isn't pertinent to any question I am asking. I don't really know labels that well. I guess this makes me an Atheist? I don't really know.

Of course. You are very likely just a line of code in the world wide corporate software program. Machine code can't conceive of such ideas as God. Just do the job assigned to you. Stay connected to the web. Play video games. Don't think too deep. It might hurt. Take the blue pill.

It seems we spent several thousand years thinking about God and didn't have much to show for it. Then we started to think more about other things and the world became a lot more interesting place.

Spending a lot of time Thinking about God doesn't seem to be a very productive or interesting endeavor to me. Although, if you are going to do nothing with your life anyways maybe it is better than being high on narcotics and watching junk TV all day.

I suppose people think about God mostly when they have difficult life decisions or are suffering or when they are looking for meaning. Otherwise the thought need not come up.
