Atheists appreciating Theists thread Atheists appreciating Theists thread

I think some of us atheists need to show appreciation to those believers who help progress the level of discussion and add logical valid insight to RGT. Many of us atheists in here have serious problems with certain religious posters who fail at simple reasoning, that sometimes our disgust lands on others.

For me, a few standout.

kb coolman. He is very articulate and is willing to give a historical background view of the bible when it comes up. He is not afraid to explain things concerning the bible, and does so without sounding condescending.

cowboy2579. In the evolution thread, he seemed eager to figure out evolution. I am not sure if he doesn't believe in evolution, but he he has asked good questions, which shows me he doesn't outright reject it and is taking a serious critical look at it.

ganstaman. Our resident jew. Has often been confused with being an atheist. Though, I'd like to see him do a ask a jew thread or something.

Just kidding, I still hate gay dinosaurs

bunny. Even though rabbits do great damage to australia and bunny is from australia, bunny gives a level of sanity to this place that is greatly appreciated.

If I didn't mention you, it does not necessarily mean I think you are a terrible poster, but these are some of the people I really do appreciate in this forum.

I would nominate Jibninjas for "most improved theist."

Not to sound arrogant, but when Jib first started posting, I found his arguments pretty silly and ill-informed, but unlike many of the other posters, he genuinely took other people's points of view to heart, considered his own positions, and his posts have gotten much better. Also, he has done a pretty good job as a mod IMO.

People are going to laugh, but I like Pletho's posts. I don't agree with him at all, but the posts I have read in various threads have all followed some sort of red line. My perception of him may obviously change, but so far I'm pretty impressed.

As a big lurker here I give full respect to bunny and jib, who although I disagree with on pretty much everything, still recognise that they are learned, logical, and thoughtful. They don't take whatever is said to them by their fellow believers as fact, and they don't take whatever is said to them by their fellow non-believers as fiction. They are capable of altering small parts of their beliefs if you give them a good reason to, which is almost impossible for most people. They don't start trolling when arguments get heated, which many atheists here do. And they don't quote bible verses every two seconds.

Unfortunately I can't think of any other Christians here this is true for. Here it seems like you can either be at the very high end of the Christian respect scale, like bunny and jib, or you can be at the..................other end like pretty much everyone else. There's no gray area it seems

Good mod but fails at thinking STILL. Had a spark of hope a few months ago but seems to have died out recently

huge lurker, but i want to give Concerto a lot of credit. I find Concerto's posts articulate and concise, and often leave me looking at new angles.

also, this thread kinda makes me want to start a thread where lurkers show their appreciation for RGT regulars.

Bunny is the only one that writes good posts IMO. I didn't even know he was a theist.

I don't remember reading any of your posts so maybe you actually are a good poster (according to my standards).

You don't find the game demands more rationality?

I'm adding concerto to this list of theists we should appreciate in this forum.

1. He stays on topic, and often times is the source of getting people back on topic, even after the thread has been derailed.

2. He is willing to give evidence, (scriptual or otherwise) to back up his position.

3. If you ask him why he believes X. He will give a long list of verses from the bible, and actual quote the verses themselves, so we don't have to guess which translation he is using. He will provide commentary if you are still confused on things, which helps foster debate.
