A person needs to come to their non-belief naturally... it usually happens when they find they can no longer silence their rational mind. I doubt a single person was ever convinced to stop believing by Hitchens or Dawkins or anyone else.
However I do applaud atheists "coming out of the closet" so to speak - as it may help end some of the stigma still associated with non-belief in what is still an extremely Christian country (the USA).
Every time I back one down he is a potential convert to sanity. It has to be his morals that take the kick in the teeth.
Think of the butterfly effect.
If it was easy the we would not get a chance to exercise our minds right?
I for one, have honed my own morals since I began trying to be a better man and being my brothers keeper. The child I save may be my own grand child from just backing off the right believer. They are not stupid and can learn.
They are just in sheeple mode and need to be brought to people mode.
As a religionist I have no wish to kill God or seeking him but I do want to kill the genocidal God and bring believers to a more moral one.
