Anyone believe in the rapture? Anyone believe in the rapture?

01-15-2009 , 08:47 AM
For those that don't know, some crazy ppl in America believe there is gonna be a rapture where all the true Christians get beamed up to heaven StarTrek-style, all while Israel is being invaded by a coalition of a willing as the anti-christ (most seem to think Obama) runs amok aborting babies and watching movies that have naughty words.

Anyone actually believe this stuff?

Yes. There will come a time were the world we live in right now will become a lot worse, a whole lot worse. My understanding of it is that just before the world "gets worse" there will be rapture of all the Christians so that will not have to go through the troubles and the rule of the antichrist.

Then there will be a world crisis that will lead to events appointing a "World President" of some sort (i.e. antichrist) who will preform miracles that will amaze people around the world there will be a period (3 and 1/2 years) of the antichrist doing "good" around the world but for the next (3 and 1/2 years) there will be total "hell" on earth (most of what is described in the book of revelations).

This will pave the way for the "mark of the beast", you heard people say it before and maybe even read about it but what exactly is it?

Well, my belief is that there will be a system, a system were if you do not get this mark you will be-headed. This mark will be like an invisible tattoo/bar code were you walk into a shop buy your items and scan this invisible mark to pay for your goods, no need for credit cards this will reduce credit card theft. It could also grant greater protection at airports (threat of terriost acts) etc. Your life will be on there for security reasons.

I do believe in the end time will play out like Revelation. The rapture is debatable. As far as Obama, I have a lot of hope that he will do good, and is far from an anti-christ. I do not feel that we are anywhere near the end times though.

As far as your description of the end times, I am basically a walking R-rated movie, so I am not so much worried about that.

I believe a reading of George Orwell's 1984 is in order for RoosterCAD.

The views expressed by Jibninjas and RoosterCAD in this thread serve to expose and highlight the vile underbelly of religion and Christianity specifically. Revelations is one of the most twisted and bigoted works included in any religious dogma. The fact that this 2000 year old apocalyptic myth is taken seriously by a person such as Jibninjas who appears not to be suffering from any major mental illness just demonstrates the dangers of world views being shaped by and based on defunct and ancient texts accepted through faith. Many attempt to dismiss such people as “fundamentalists” and indeed “extremists” however people holding such views are simply following their religious beliefs to what appears to them to be a natural conclusion.

I would love to just laugh RoosterCAD’s interpretation of our future off as a level however I fear that only within the mindset of a religious follower can such ridiculous and sickeningly warped views on the future of humanity be held with any confidence. I find it depressing that members of societies where quality education is available them still hang on to these ancient myths which arose out of a darker time in humanities ongoing evolution. Claiming to know the future in store for humanity is simply the ultimate in arrogance and can be considered nothing more than a joke.

What happens to the Jews during this time. Do they goto heaven?

devilset666, if you would please, tell me what your interpretation of the future holds. All joking aside I would like to read what you believe the future of mankind will be in the next 100 years. If you could touch on the state of humanity, the state of peace, economy, and the like.

those that remain will have an opportunity to repent and be saved. it is written that when rapture comes, the people remaining will know the truth that the New Covenant with Jesus is the truth and by not taking the mark of the beast and not following the antichrist, they will be redeemed and have their place with the father. its not the end of the world persay, but the end of the world as we know it.

I certainly do not claim do have any knowledge of what the next 100 years will hold. I am not a psychic nor do I have an ancient text to rely on for the answers. If I could predict economical shifts I would be a very rich man All I could ever give you would be somewhat educated guess or indeed opinions of what the next 100 years "may" hold for humanity. For reasons already stated they would not be in any way detailed nor would I ever claim them to be anything other than a guess. Here are a few of my guesses as I feel bad not to even make an attempt for you:

1. I suspect the role religion currently plays in American life and politics will be much weaker in 100 years than it is now.

2. Governments across the world will be forced to reconsider their goals of constant growth and capitalism fueled enlargement in the light of increasing issues of starvation, the environment, unstable economies, unsustainable resources, over-population across the globe etc. (already happening to some extent)

3. (not relevant to your suggestions of predictions you would like me to make) I feel that the phenomenon of "pop" music will fade as the music industry downsizes and relocates online providing people with instant access to different genres and styles of music they may never have otherwise come across.

All of these are my thoughts and of course are shaped by the world we live in today and are limited as a result of my natural limitations and many shortcomings. There is a good chance I could be way off on some or all of my points and I would be happy to discuss them in light of others viewpoints. This is simply not the case when someone believes a 2000 year old text of ignorant and understandably fearful views on the end of the world are to be considered the literal truth. Such unwavering faith in non-sense is a frightening and dangerous prospect and has caused and will continue to cause much suffering for many people across the world.

i think this is a trick question. to be a jew you have to believe Jesus was not the messiah. Jews follow the old covenant. Christians follow the new covenant. those that accept Christ as the savior go in the rapture.

here is a theological trick question for you. Do you believe in the rapture?

If so when I'm left behind is it ok if I use the material belongings of Christians like their cars, houses, churches ( i could turn them into youth clubs for all the young sinners) etc as they won't be needing them in heaven? Also who is going to look after all your pets? I'm a bit of an animal lover you see so maybe I should start a sinner's dog walking club or something.........

what you want out of this life is the answer to your question. if that is what you want, then seek it.

im only regurgitating what was written 2000 years ago about the rapture. i didn't write it, i am just a messenger at the moment.

Ok, I'll take this as permission from you for my "sinner's but animal lovers" (SBAL) dog walking foundation to walk your dog in the event that you are snapped up into heaven by Jesus. Would you like to make a small donation to my cause? Maybe I should register (SBAL) asap just to be on the safe side.

I declare that you have entertained me this evening.

I declare that those who believe in the rapture must be regarded as "special" and their pets must be given special care as set out by (SBAL) when they are beamed to heaven.

I declare that faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

I therefore declare that prophet James must act to enlighten the members of this board before his faith dies.

I declare that these are chance declarations

"And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name." "But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of god; holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth."

Wouldn't the correct statement be: "A lack of faith is a frightening and dangerous prospect and has caused and will continue to cause much suffering for many people across the world."
