I think the lost sheep are kinda lost. They're coming to a realization that the Catholic church was obviously crap, and Protestantism can really only be watered down Catholocism, yet they still feel they have some "religion" in them somehow.

I'm just trying to push that the Celto Anglo Saxons are Israel, and they better wake up and realize that our founding fathers were all masons. I think we just have two different purposes. The theists purpose is to the tell the truth, and learn the truth.

The atheists purpose is to debate for the sake of debate. Yes, debating does sharpen ones intellect I suppose, and that has some merit. So perhaps I should just understand you guys don't care about honesty. You care about making the guilty look innocent, and the innocent guilty. You care about being good lawyers in a sense.

Who's taking poker players broadly? Of course people on this forum, a place dedicated to strategy, as a whole are above average intelligence. The average level of mathematical knowledge on this forum alone is far above that of the average internet user, let alone the average person in general. I would also expect, as a whole, users on a forum dedicated to chess or backgammon strategy to be above average intelligence.

Not sure how you arrive at this. I can't speak for others, but I debate, as well as read and research, for the sake of learning as well as engaging the intellect.

That was certainly the group I was referring to. I think the 'seek out commentary on poker' filter is of more relevance than the 'too stupid to use a computer' filter.

Sorry, still do not agree. Logging on this forum in particular is not a strong filter. Although there are bright bulbs here, the comments made show plenty of dim bulbs also.

I know you're intelligent enough to understand averages. A group that takes an active interest in game theory, mathematics, strategy, etc is most certainly more intelligent than the average citizen. You've probably surrounded yourself with intelligent people in your life and have forgotten what real average intelligence looks like. A forum dedicated to chess strategy will almost certainly, on average, be more intelligent than the average population.

You are right. I have spent a large portion of my life surrounded by intelligent people. That's why I know what intelligence looks like.

Now you're just being obtuse. No one claimed this forum was some haven of 4 standard deviations above the mean geniuses, but the subject matter it contains, much like other strategy game sites, is going to contain a more intelligent user base than the average intelligence of the entire population.
