hahaha very first reply (presumably from a theist) does a perfect imitation of religion! it disregards the blame that should be placed on the vandals and instead questions the billboards! this is exactly how religious people think and an indictment on why its impossible to have an intelligent conversation with 99% of theists.

well put - i agree that even if you don't like Maher this is a good watch. the vatican priest is one of the most reasonable people on the entire disc imo.

simply put, religious people are generally unreasonable. i try to not let it get to me but so many of them want to tell me how to live my life inside my 4 walls. this is not reasonable.

anyway, i'm off to watch a movie about a war... another one of those wars started by those silly atheists.

Spoiler:
atheists have never started a war

Is that because atheists are discriminated against and harassed by some of their Christian commanders or is it they all just come to God in the end?

The saying was started because of the horrors of war and a soldiers impending death. Why not come to God in the end? Cover all the bases is what I always say...

Are atheists discriminated against somewhere that you know of in the military? I've never heard of any.

The Red Cross has been for many decades, and remains today, the largest blood bank in the country. In 1982 and especially 1983, when it would have possible to contain the outbreak--or at least stop the spread of the disease through infusions of infected blood--major blood banks, led by the Red Cross, opposed national testing of blood for HIV.

The Red Cross' opposition was based on the financial cost. As investigative journalist Judith Reitman wrote in her book Bad Blood: "It appeared it would be cheaper to pay off infected blood recipients, should they pursue legal action, than to up the Red Cross blood supply."

Earlier this year, the Canadian Red Cross pleaded guilty to distributing contaminated blood supplies that infected thousands of Canadians with HIV and hepatitis C in the 1980s. This scandal is a large part of why the Canadian Red Cross was removed from running the country's blood supply in the late 1990s--but not the American Red Cross.

Enron-style bookkeeping, deceptive advertising and outright theft of funds have also been a big part of the Red Cross' recent history.

For years, the organization has been criticized for raising money for one disaster, and then withholding a large chunk of it for other operations and "fundraising." For example, the Red Cross raised around $50 million for the victims of the 1989 San Francisco earthquake in San Francisco, but it's estimated that only $10 million was ever turned over to the victims.

OK, Y'all can have it

Why not come to God in the end? Because i dont think a God would be so cruel to accept or reject me me based on my belief or lack of belief it him/she/it. Plus i cant really chose to believe in a God anyway.

That's the beutiful part. You have the freedom to believe whatever you wish. There are no religious zealots posting on these boards telling atheists how dumb they are, but can the atheists say the same? When discussion resorts to vitriole and name calling I have to question the motive of the poster. What has happened to you to make you so hostile?Like, why are you so militant ? Do you know what I'm saying?

No, I have not. It was just a saying started by soldiers in wartime.

Sure there are religious zealots posting here. So far i know im evil, a wolf, a snake, a goat, a worker for demons, a fool, someone who cant have morality or is immoral and when all is said and done an enemy to God and friend of evil.

I get what your saying though and agree calling people dumb isn't the best thing.

I wasn't just talking about the words there are no atheists in foxholes being harassment.

If this thread has taught me one thing, it's that people have trouble using the dictionary.

I don't like organized religion why would I like organized anti-religion?

I can understand a debate with leaders from both sides. (even though I don't think atheist should have a leader per-say)

I actually just watched this last night. Was considering posting it on here.

What did you think about it?

I think he did a good job. I also liked the part when he was talking to the religious shop owner that is a former Jew that is now a Christian. I like the miracle he explained about when he asked to the Christian guy for a glass of water who then told him if he wants water to pray for it to rain then it started raining so thats why he is now a Christian. Then Bill Maher was trying to explain to him what a coincidence is and he just refused to accept it.

He was great basically laughing at his own churches beliefs.
