i see this whole thing with agnostics as pure stupidity. how could life really be this paradox.. there is an answer and its atheism. if you subtract this pure ignorance known as living life through faith without tangible evidence, you get a world without 90% of the current problems. abrahamic faiths are the past haunting us, through delusions spread from generation to generation. abrahamic faith is a generational curse. all of these modern religions are so stupid and have no basis in any part of current day reality, as far as them having some kind of chance. life isnt a paradox.. this dude existing eternally, beyond space, time and physics, forever in eternal utopia, armed with unlimited super powers, from nothing, is what these *******s want to call logic. there is a constant energy responsible for the universe, not a conscious one. how couldnt there be a clear answer, when you think a super powerwielding zombie jew is watching you masturbate angrily.

Agnosticism as in the intellectual position that knowledge of the supernatural or deities is not attainable is a perfectly fine position.

In most ways agnosticism is actually a much harsher position intellectually towards (revealed) religion than atheism. It wouldn't just say that you have reached a different conclusion, it would say that all the evidence is complete bunk.

Or to put it in simpler terms: Agnosticism is pretty much stating outright that belief in the supernatural is stupid (or at the very least ignorant). Atheism on its own contains no such judgment.

Of course in everyday parlor agnosticism has often come to mean simply "undecided", which is another ballgame entirely.

An unaffiliated position. It's quite reasonable to just don't know what is unknown. And it makes sense to have something like faith in the unknown when it's satisfying to you. Trying to affiliate anything to unaffiliated faith is kinda thoughtless. So what if a little reverence for the unknown is satisfying to someone?

I´m sorry, but human nature is the cause of our current (and past) problems, not faith.

Agnosticism is among the fairly quiet 'positions', which makes it easy to fill in the blanks with all sorts of conjecture. Really, they pretty much don't know. What else to say?

A lot of people that describe themselves as agnostic come under my definition of atheist. And some people I've met say they feel they're inclined to believe in some form of deity but they don't or can't know much about it and so prefer not to call themselves theists. I'd probably call them theists under my usage.

All that to say that I think making a blanket judgement on agnosticism isn't very useful and I don't hold a strong opinion either way.

I have, however, made an argument in the past similar to TD regarding a certain type of agnostic that claims knowledge of a god or gods is impossible is often making a much stronger claim than the fence sitting position they think they have.

And it's not that I don't think there are compelling reasons for such a "strong" agnostic position. More that I get annoyed by people trying to pass of a very powerful claim as just common sense middle ground.
