Selling 0 + 0 of debt. Selling 0 + 0 of debt.

Sorry if this is the incorrect place to post this, I'd assume this is better than posting in general marketplace.

Details:

First one is $140

Ok, I won't get into full details but cliffs I met someone in the $5.50 STTs, talked on MSN for a few months, talked about strategy, personal lives etc. Eventually guy withdraws majority of his roll and is back down to a very low buy in (I think as low as $1.20STTs) and I OFFER to lend him $100 so he can play a bit higher, as he's a very nice guy who helped me out a lot and seemed legit. He didn't ask for the money. In short, he keep in contact/on MSN and talked to me a lot for a few weeks after, eventually then stops being on and I suspect he blocked me. He says money is on party and he'll pay me back asap, a week later his uncle died (I am 90% sure this is true, includes him leaving his country to his uncle's funeral, he stated time there and it was true, doubt he would think I would actually look up the time). After this he PMs me 2 weeks after arriving back, has since stopped. I have his 2p2 username (last logged like end of Sept), e-mail, real name/facebook and pokerstars user (last played like end of Sept). Contact stopped like end of June? I think the guy never intended to scam me, although after may have simply realised how easy it was for him to just ignore me and keep the money. I think the guy is fairly legit and there is a fair chance this is recoverable.

Second case... user zhaorx on 2p2, nearly 7000 posts with a lot of past history/transactions. I decide to invest $180 (invested $70 first time) in his last package, long story short he gets addicted and blows investors money on hyper turbos. Pays $40 back and says will grind micros to get it all back for everyone, does so for a while but eventually goes MIA. The user is now banned, but with that much history/and the nature of the thread/his posts I also think there is a fair chance this guy will come back and make things right etc.

Not asking for very much so PM me for offers or even post ITT

you have the first guys facebook? How have you not gotten your money back...
11-13-2010 , 07:49 AM
I'm not friends with him. He blocked/deleted me after I spammed his wall like once every two-three days, this was before I found out that his uncle supposedly died (which again I do think is true). He e-mailed me shortly after and said I don't need this **** right now, I will pay you back, my uncle who I lived with for x years passed away

you should post all the info you have about guy #1
s/n name fbook

I will give it to anyone who buys the debt, I kinda feel weird just posting it out as a scammer when I effectively scammed myself lol
11-14-2010 , 01:33 AM
anyone who wud even consider buying this is an idiot, and your a huge idiot for thinking anyoone wud buy this, its almost like ur scamming whomever mite buy it, because u should know if you coulndt get your own money back form these guys there is noooooooo way some rando dude is gettin it back. and even if they bought it for pennies on the dollar and by some miracle got some money back it for sure wudnt b allthe money n it for sure wudnt b worth the trouble, so gg sir
11-14-2010 , 01:50 AM
lol you're the idiot. selling debt is pretty common, the buyer basically pays a price where $ is less than EV... ldo....
if they think there is a 10% chance of getting the money back then anything under $24 is +EV, 50% $120.. so on. whatever if you don't want then don't buy..?
11-14-2010 , 02:30 AM
You should've lent me $100.

Anyway, selling debt is common only for collections. A collection agency deals with a large volume, plus they can damage your credit score and take legal recourse against you (depending on the size of course, although a lot of debt is settled with collection agencies and not law firms, so in many cases they cannot do anything.) Regardless, I don't see this being a smart decision for anyone to buy this. Doubt he is going to pay back, and you have no measures to take against him if he doesn't.

It's one thing when it is a reputable guy you know is going to pay back and you just want to sell because you need the money quicker, it's an entirely different thing to settle a debt that is a 99% chance of not being paid back.
11-14-2010 , 02:39 AM
Yeah fair enough I realise this is less orthodox than the more common debt settling but it's not completely out. I would give 20%+ for the $100 and 25%+ for the $140 personally, sure others may not agree and if they don't then that's fine, you don't have to buy but a pointless and untrue post like the one before yours is unnecessary. Fwiw I would sell at 15% mainly to get my money back now, and give up some EV for time value of money + "variance".

The first guy like said on OP is overall pretty legit but greed may have gotten the better of him, the second I am pretty confident he may come back sometime and make things right.

I mean ok whatever, if it doesn't sell it doesn't. But if anyone is interested post ITT or PM me.

Can mods please tell me why this is allowed, or why this is in the staking subsection...?
11-14-2010 , 08:04 PM
Sorry you can close it if it isn't allowed, I've seen a few threads like selling make-up (which I realise is very different) and a thread with a rolled stake where people were selling their debt, iirc supernova_elite bought a bunch of it..? anyway sorry if it isn't allowed, again close it if it isn't - don't think anyone is interested anyway.

Not sure where else this would go, I think here is more appropriate than general?

not sure its a good trend to start for the MP in general.

just will create for a whole lot of work for mods to police and so much can go wrong with it. i dont know if there is a correct place for it on 2p2. that's for the mods to decide.
11-14-2010 , 09:06 PM
Actually you're right, that's true. I agree that this becoming more common/popular would be a disaster and bad for the marketplace/2p2 in general. That being said this is NO LONGER FOR SALE and any mod who sees this please close this. Thanks Zima.

Just so everyone reading this knows - these types of threads are not allowed. If you want to sell makeup (which I realize isn't 100% the case here but its along the same lines) the horse needs to be able to agree to it as well.
