I'm looking for backers to buy my upcoming action in the Five Star World Poker Classic / WPT Championship, at Bellagio, which runs April 2 - April 26.
Currently I plan to play all the NLH events; I'm trying to raise 70k to cover all of my buy-ins, including some expense money and the possibilty of satellites. (The total cost of the non-satellite buyins is $66,620). I've sold some action already, but due to the size of this event and the necessary amount of money to raise, I'm going more public than I would normally.
$1000 will buy 1% of all cashes; if I raise all the money I'm trying to, the backers will keep 70% of the cashes and I'll keep the rest. All interested parties are welcome to buy as much or as little as they want, and the price may be negotiable for someone who wants to invest a larger amount of money.
There are 12 preliminary events ranging from $2100 to $5180 in buyins, and then the $25,500 main event.
(Here is the total event list.) The super-satellites are $2620 buyins. I'm going to try to play a few and win a seat in an attempt to keep overall costs down. (Of course, if I can't win one, I still need to raise enough to cover a buyin into the championship.)
I may take a day off from a tournament if I feel burnt out or that I won't play well. In this case, I'll try to fill something out with a satellite, so you get your money's worth. But basically, I reserve the right to not play when I feel like I won't play well, although I will do my best to make sure your investment stays in action.
For those of you who don't know me, I've been playing tournament poker for a living for some 2 1/2 years now, showing consistent success online even at the highest buyins. (Once, I made it all the way to #87 on Pocketfives' tournament player rankings!) I don't play a high volume compared to other players (although I have in the past), but do put up results when I am playing. I play as "Cap'nJackpot" on Stars and "Tony Pisser" on Full Tilt and UB. A brief rundown of major wins includes the UB 200k in May '07; the Stars nightly $150 on three occasions, three Stars $109 rebuys, the Full Tilt nightly $150, winner-take-all Aussie Millions package, and a scattering of other deep runs and scores.
I've also had previous success live; while I don't have the exact numbers, my estimates for buyins put my ROI at about 200% in live events, and you can see my cashes
here on Cardplayer. Whereas many online players don't like live tournaments, I prefer the live game, and feel I am better suited to it-- I don't get bored or impatient with the pace, and I learn a lot from my interaction with the players. I don't tilt easily when I'm playing in person.
For those of you who do know me, you probably have some idea of my game and what you think I'm capable of. You know how I play when I play well, and I'm committed to playing well and staying in physical and mental shape during a series. I don't drink when I'm out at a live series (as people who played and stayed with me during the L.A. Poker Classic can attest). I know my reputation precedes me, but I've learned a lot from my past experiences, and I take tournaments seriously enough to prepare my best.
So PM me if you're interested, and we'll work out details or how to best arrange / transfer money. I should arrive in Vegas April 1 and play as soon as the 2nd if things are going well.
