I have heard numerous times that staker asks audits from his horse, what is that meant exactly?
I am new to this kinda, what are effective ways to keep an eye over your investment in horse that he plays the game he states and etc?

Tnx!

I mean how the audits are usually done. Is sharkscope legit tracking software? Do you check only pt4/hem2 results, what about poker software options for tracking etc?

Poker site to send raw HHs and you send to your backer typically. Sharkscope / other trackers I would assume are 2ndary checks for them - but sharkscope is quite accurate so most likely all MTT/SNG stakes will require you to not have it locked.

So some friend wants to stake me 100% of a trip. Travel expenses, food, hotel, buy ins. Free Rolling basically.

Since I haven't done anything like this, How does it work?

What is my standard cut?

Does it make sense that sponsor get a higher % until he get is money back?

Thanks in advance

The sponsor gets 100% until he gets his money (expenses) back. Then profits are split 50/50 with makeup.

stakebacks would work where after the stakers paid back the buy-ins in full , you then split profits XYZ agreed upon amount prior to the trip. Online stakebacks often will be anywhere from 85-15 split in backers favour to 75-25.

(backer is taking 100% of the risk , if it is just this one trip there is not a makeup to dip into as the above poster mentioned so 50-50 split would be a long shot and basically just a charity offer if backer is a close friend.)

Thanks for the info. It all makes sense.
He is asking me pure 60/40. It is a hell of a deal to me. He even does not want is money back first.

Since he is a good friend and we are talking about 20k$ I'm noot feeling good about it...

If he is a good friend and he's offering, why not? you guys would have fun and maybe you can win some money for both, if not, it's not such a big deal if he can afford it. It's not like you were asking him for money, he is offering, i don t see this like you getting advantage over him..

I recently staked a player (I bought action) for a tournament. The entry was $1,500 and I asked for 5%. I paid for my 5% in advance of the tournament and the player entered the tournament and busted before the money. The same player then reentered the tournament and made the money. The amount of money made has yet to be determined, but I am wondering if i am entitled to 2.5% of this player’s cash?

Please note there were no discussions prior to reentry that this player intended to renter if this player busted. I am just looking for feedback from the community to see what you all think. Thank you.

No unless discussed before hand you have only 5% of the first bullet and nothing of the second. You should both communicate better in the future when dealing with a reentry tournament how the reentry will be handled. You def are not entitled to 2.5%

Hi Guys

I’ve been playing poker just for 4 years but last 2 years as a MTT PRO. During my short pro carrier made some good scores;

- 1st in Monster Series 03-high for $27,2k on party poker
- 1st in Bigger $44 for 11,8k
- 1st in Big $44 for 5.7k
- 1st in Big $22 for 5.5k
- 1st in Hot $55 for 5.4k

Recently had a lot of unexpected expenses and unsuccessful investments where 2 scammers ripped me off. They owed me a lot of money. I would like to bring a lawsuit against them but It's gonna take a lot of money and time. Even after won lawsuit I don't know how long will be waiting for money and don't know If I get some money back from the scammers...Never been in court so I'm not sure what i can expect...
Also I've been recently on downswing...
I don't know what to do. Need your advise guys !

I'm almost broke ... I've got left $2k in my bankroll but it's not enough even to play low stakes. Also got some saved money for living but don't want to touch my last savings and transfers them to play poker. I never been looking for staking deal...but I think now is the time to make some staking researches.

I have few options ;

a) Find private backer and sign with him appropriate contract.Where 2 persons would be happy with terms. It will be the best for me if investor would be HS Pro. He/She would become my mentor and I will get financial + coaching support in exchange for profit division.

b) Find "normal" job and play as semi-pro till earn appropriate sum of money for legal cost and save enough money to play mid stakes tournaments on my own (about $12-15k).

c) Sell some shares for grind and try to win something on mid stakes. I sold 2 days ago my first ever package for last Sunday grind on FaceBook in one of poker groups Even was so close to nice profit on Sunday. Lost bvb FH vs FH in hot33. I'm not allowed to post any offer over here because I am not active enough on the forum. English isn't my native language so it's take me to write a post longer than writing in my native language. Usually check my spilling twice before post anything...I've been quit busy so wasn't active on 2+2.
Maybe long term staking offer would be better option, for example for 2-3 month where I would invest my 2k and would find some investors to play tournaments up to $44/55.
Other option is selling 100% shares, play without make up where i would just take some % from profit at the end of contract. I'm not sure how many % i can ask for in this case and don't know if there would be some people interested in my offer.

d) Apply for stacking in some stables. Some of them got contracts for 20k MTT .I just don't wanna signing contracts for overs 2-3 years. I know they got some forums for horses/video materials charts etc. In the best stables the best coaches working on game only with HS players... I can work on game on my own in PIO, HRC, Equilab. In case I have tough spots I can always ask about opinion my friends which playing Mid and few of them HS stakes or just post it over here in appropriate section. Also bought RYE Master Class which done already. I'm in RYE discord Master Class Group but wasn't active over there because been working on game so far with my lads on Skype in my language.

Definitely I don't want to quit poker. I spent to much time to study and I know there is still some leaks in my game and areas to improvement. I love this game and want my hobby to be my job.

I will really appreciate any advice and help.
I'm looking forward for your opinions Guys.

Unless you can afford to bankroll yourself, you can't afford to. Assuming you are an adult:
  • work
  • work and go to school
  • work and save money to play
  • work and get a backer

Those are your actual options.

So I've been thinking of trying to get staked.

I've been playing since 2004 or 5? I don't really remember. I dealt poker for a year during the boom as well. I played pretty recreationally mainly local daily tournaments and some cash. Had decent results in dailies (never kept track, some things that were tracked on the websites for bigger tourneys), and I did alright in cash games. Before black Friday I played a lot on Stars and Full Tilt and had no concept of bankroll management. If I focused on one thing I did well, but then I would go play way too high and blow everything. I know I had really good results in the 180 man $2.20 on stars and would 12 table them. (Gosh I miss that it was so nice with table ninja). After black Friday I stopped playing poker online and played some in local rooms, but started my own business so poker went to the side.

The last few years were really rough for me. Long story short, I got rid of all of my debts. My only debt now is my mortgage and desire to provide for my family. This brings me to where I am today. I've been studying a lot, played here and there but simply not rolled to play. I don't feel as comfortable going in with a couple of buyins so I'm thinking of looking for a stake till I can build up a roll of my own at least...

How to go about it? I don't have fancy graphs. I don't track results well. I did some in a bankroll tracker software just recently on my phone but LOL sample size.

Thoughts? or GTFO?

And the rest of the guys who begin to think about backing while being hobby players.

I have been investing in players for 4 years. And I can say with confidence that the following points are required in order to be considered as someone in whom you can invest money.

1. You must accurately determine the discipline you are going to play. For a becker, there is nothing worse if a player says that he can play anything.

2. Once you have decided on disciplines, you need a tracker, because without it you will not be perceived as a professional player. A tracker will help you provide data to a becker. And also understand your game. When they tell me that a player is playing without a tracker, for me this means that the player is not 99.9% suitable

3. You must have played the minimum distance with good numbers, so that you would be interested. If you show me the graph where you played 100k hands with ev bb / 100 = 4 and higher on NL2, it will be 100 times better than your $ 1000 victory stories. In other words, you will need to make your first deposit yourself. Finding 20 buy ins on NL2 is a feasible task.

4. You must carefully monitor your reputation. One small spot can put an end to your career. Be consistent and if you are not confident in your actions, it is better to check with a becker whether this can be done. There are a lot of arbitration situations due to a misunderstanding between the player and the backer. No unnecessary transactions, withdrawals of money, games in other disciplines, the game is not on the limits, etc.

For starters, I think that's enough. These simple rules are enough to start your journey in backing.

Appreciate the post!

I mainly play live. Only a few games available to me in my local card room which I prefer to play in 1/2NL, 2/3NL, 2/5NL...

I don't play online much at all. I used poker tracker up until 2011 when black friday hit. The site I play on now doesn't allow such trackers.

I'm keeping track of my live games via a bankroll tracker app. Doesn't get as detailed as I would like but tracks sessions.

Seems the marketplace here is more for online.

I would appreciate if anyone knows whether there is a viable way for someone in the US staking someone to play online poker in Canada. This is for a short term stake between friends for the WCOOP. The problem is losing a big % from transferring back and forth between currencies. Is there anyway to make this viable? Any worthwhile suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am glad to help

AxeGrinder
And why are you not satisfied with the skrill / neteller systems?
At lower statuses, the transfer fee is 1.75%

But already with silver status, all transfers within the system are free. Both systems are available in Canada.

I would love to be able to use Skrill or Neteller but you can't deposit or withdrawal from PokerStars with those sites. I can't find a common e-wallet for US and Canadian for PokerStars. I don't see how it's viable to do staking with someone from the US. They send the money to me from a site..and then it gets transferred to CDN funds at a loss going to my bank then I would have to deposit using Instadebit and going back there would be such a significant loss that it wouldn't be worth it. If anyone knows of something perhaps that I have overlooked then I would appreciate hearing it.

Hey, do you guys think it's alright to have a % of someones action in a poker game on a given night, even if I'm at the same table? Fwiw I know I'm not gonna play any differently and would never cheat to help him out. But I don't mind not doing it if it's a bad idea. Thoughts?

i think anything more than 25% is compromising and any % should be either disclosed or hinted.
