I got laid off from my job (family business failing in this economy) and I'm looking to play poker full time.

History:

- Started playing poker about 6 years ago while I was in college on Prima Network with the free $10 promotion

- Turned the $10 into over $10,000 playing FR cash NL and Heads up Limit - Played as my sole source of income until leaving school with limits ranging from 1/2NL-5/10NL and 10/20 HUL - Cashed out approx. $40,000 over 2 years

- Have played recreationally since then, never depositing more than $50 and generally cashing out (or busting out on shots) when I reach $5,000-$15,000

- I have been a winner at the following games/stakes

PLO - up to 2/4

NLH FR - up to 5/10

NLH 6m - Up to 2/4

NLH HU - Up to 2/4

LHE FR - Up to 15/30

LHE 6m - Limited experience, up to 5/10

LHE HU - Played this almost exclusively for a year at the 10/20 level and was a consistent winner

- I have played but lost money at the following games/stakes

PLO - 5/10 - 15/30

NLH FR - 10/20

NLH 6m - 5/10

NLH HU - 5/10 - 25/50

LHE FR - 50/100 - 100/200

I have always taken shots with my bankroll and it has never really worked out for me. I read a recent post on the site about how good players are not always succesful players and it really struck a chord with me. I am a good player but have not practiced sound bankroll management and it has cost me a lot of opportunities.

I would like to take the bankroll management completely out of my hands and just focus on playing winning poker. I also would like a mentor who can help me improve my game and progress to a level where we are both making a significant amount of money.

I want to put in 40+ hours of week of structured play. I don't need to make money from poker in the short term so I am willing to start at a low limit and build the bankroll through the stake, this will limit the financial exposure to any potential backer to more or less whatever he is comfortable with.

The ideal backer has a long-term proven record of success playing poker professionally and has experience in staking players successfully. I will respond to any questions here or by PM.

u should probably write a book on turning $10 into $10,000 on some Prima promotion before you go asking for some ridiculous amount of money.

Thank you so much for your invaluable contribution to this thread.

It really isn't that difficult to make Poker Tracker graphs that look however you want them to. I don't think this is the only factor stakers consider.

Who was it that posted a thread in 2004 or 2005 asking if anyone had your personal information because you had their money (from being staked I think?) and you had vanished off the face of the earth and they couldn't get in touch with you? Searching the older archives is nearly impossible unfortunately so I can't find it.

edit: UGH I was seaching the limit forum

I received a small stake back in '04 I think. It went fine until a personal tragedy side-tracked me from playing and I did fall out of communication for a few weeks. During this time I didnt' play, but had already paid back a portion of the money that was staked per our arrangement. When I got myself sorted out and got back online literally the first thing I did was apologize and send people back their money.

I never played outside of the structure of the stake and the money was always sitting in my account I was just going through a lot and didn't follow through as I should have. I'm not proud of the way I handled it and it was certainly a learning experience. I also paid people back 100% even though I was down on the stake and ate the transaction fees. One of my backers also provided my rakeback and he fell out of communication with me and kept 10x the stake amount in rakeback owed.

I'm not going to publicly out the names but I believe at least 2 of the 3 people who backed me still post here and I can provide their names to any potential backers.

I have nothing personal against you but I just feel something like this should be made aware to people who consider staking you.

Anyway I found the thread and the one who posted it is the one that has disappeared from 2p2 so that's a dead end anyway.

Absolutely. I had no intention of withholding that information from anyone who expresses interest in staking me. I explained the entire situation in detail (unsolicited) to the last person I discussed staking with.

I want to add; for the right person I am willing to offer you the same profit potential as a normal staking deal with 0 financial risk. In other words, I'll put some money on, build a roll and give you a % in exchange for active mentoring. Tell me how many hands to play and I will do so and record my results for you to determine if you want to continue while not having to worry about financial loss.

I highly doubt that there are many better candidates out there in terms of experience and ability to win. I just need help in the other areas that separate a winning player from a lasting professional player. I'm willing to put in the time if you are. I am also willing to agree to extend the staking arrangement for a long period of time to maximize profit for the staker.

Also, in my original post I said I would prefer those who play professionally full time. I don't want to exclude anyone who may play part time but still be a solid long-term winner at 5/10 plus. That's where I want to be and I'm willing to compensate the person who helps me get there.
